Arepas Breakfast & lunch
We were recommended to try Arepas which is 500 metres on the right after the turn down to Buccoo in a new parade of shops. It is a Venezuelan coffee shop, selling breakfast & lunch. We had a beef,a pork & a fish Empanada which were really tasty. They do a number of other things & also deliver although i am not sure they would come as far as we are, Arnos Vale. Definitely worth a try if you are on the road & fancy something really tasty. Will try again & post more info.

Re: Arepas Breakfast & lunch
Hi Simon
Thanks for mentioning that. Seems like somewhere well worth adding to our Restaurants list, so that has now been done. I just need to pin down the location. 500m from Buccoo Junction puts it some 50m after the double-bend in the block before Post Office Street where the Polo Bar used to be based. I've added a marker to our maps page (available here) and it would be a help if you could check the marker out for me to make sure I've got the right spot. Thanks!

I am in front of it now and it is about 50 yards from the junction, so before all bends! Will tell about the quality later and try to take some pics with the phone.... Where is the camera? Home, safe and sound... ;o)

Re: Arepas Breakfast & lunch
well, that was delicious and a very nice change to always trinbagonian food.
they did not have all that was on the menu, but what they had was great! freshly made fruit juices (had the watermelon and loved it).
no bathrooms since the place was planned for takeaways only, but guests requested to eat there since it is an air conditioned, clean and very nicely decorated restaurant.
lets hope they get the full menu going and have come to stay
will email pics to steve for the list!

Re: Arepas Breakfast & lunch
Thanks to both Steph of Alibaba Tours, and Gabriele of La Tartaruga, who both sent me photos and more detailed information about Arepas yesterday. Arepas is owned by Derek and Evelyn Chung, who also own and run the Undersea Tobago dive facilities at the Coco Reef Resort. Evelyn is from Venezuela and so I am confident that this small new take-away is both authentic and very well run.
Talking of photos, can anyone help with photos of El Pescador in Buccoo, Redman Simple in Speyside or the following Scarborough Restaurants: Tino's Bar & Restaurant, East Ocean Restaurant, Eddies or Jatt's Harbour Wok. If so, please bang them over to me so I can illustrate these establishments in our listings. Thank you in anticipation.

Re: Arepas Breakfast & lunch
Arepas is by far the premier spanish/venezuelan restaurant in tobago. If u have never tried spanish styled food then let arepas be the one to take u on that first step, believe me u would not be dissapointed. The food tastes just as good as those who prepare it,and we all know good these spanish women look.(hahahaha) So trust me visit them!!!!!
