UK Driving Licence Validity in Tobago

Would a UK paper driving licence (without photo) along with an IDP (international Driving Permit) be valid for hiring a car in Tobago?
I will need to update my driving licence next winter when I reach 70, (a UK requirement), so I'm reluctant to change my paper one twice in a year if I don't have to.

Hi Ian

I'm not sure about the validity of the old-style driving licence. Some car rental places might accept it when supported by your passport. However, better safe than sorry, so I would advise getting a new-style driver's licence with photo id. The good news - renewing a licence because you are 70 is FREE!

The bad news is that rental car rates go up at 70.
