Hi
Just returned from 2 weeks on Tobago and found Carib served almost everywhere in restaurants and hotels, but Stag was not a bad alternative!
The strike is still continuing with no signs of concilliation as yet.

We liked Stag better. But if you like the darker stuff, try Mackeson, too.

Carib wins

Post by Geoff M »

I have just returned from a fortnight in Speyside, and having read this debate before I went, have taken it upon myself to thoroughly test the two. I have to say that after much (too much my wife may say) testing, I fall on the side of Carib. Found it to be crisper and more refreshing. That said, I would not be adverse to Stag if the need arose.

A few Caribs followed by a few Rum n Cokes (can't cope with fruity type punches)........god I wish I was back there !!

Stag v Carib

Post by Paul Williams »

I have really enjoyed carrying out research for 2 weeks on your behalf and I found that if I was drinking either beer here in UK I would almost certainly be a Stag drinker but I think that in the sun with temperatures in the high thirties I have to say that the thirst quenching qualities of Carib win.

Stag v Carib

Post by Andy D »

Having spent some time in Tobago in July this year and having sampled rather a lot of both Carib and Stag i have to say that for me Carib just about wins, both are fabulous beers, very refreshing in the relentless heat but i do prefer Carib.
Does anyone know if i can get hold of either in the UK??

I find Carib good in daytime (especially when out fishing) but tend to drink Stag in the nightime. Just my 2 cents.

Eurobeer mention it but unvail.

Fabeers.co.uk also list it £1.39/bottle in case of 16.

I know this is a 'beer thing' ... but has anyone considered the benefits of a RUM PUNCH?.

No comparison ... in my opinion.

I'm with you Paul - rum is the definitive taste of the Caribbean!

Rum punch, coconut punch, planters punch - ooh I can't wait to get back to Tobago in April to reacquaint myself with them!!

(Might manage the odd Carib or Stag too!)

Caribs/Stag, whatever ... these are the warmers.

Nothing like the 'good old Rum Punch' when you get on down to it, eh?

On this note ... has anyone an opinion on the strongest Rum Punch in Tobago?

I reckon that the Rum Punches served at the Rex Turtle are the strongest ... I mean, take 2 (maybe 3 after a really big meal) and you are ready for bed in a big way ... if you can make it back across the gardens ... oh Lordy ... think about it before you go All Inclusive !!

Any other recommendations ??

Out of respect for the Carib/Stag Punters I have set up another string for votes on the the venue that sells the best Rum Punch.

I should think so too!!!!

Defacing our beer string with silly notions about punch being better... I thought better of you Paul

So am I right in saying Stag is winning this debate so-far :?
