Restaurant reviews

Post by Mandy H »

Finally got round to doing restaurant reviews after returning from Tobago at the end of March :D

Me-Shells - went on our first night so we were a bit tired, but the food was amazing....especially the chicken curry!

Seahorse Inn - fantastic food, great choices for those who may be allergic to fish like me. Great atmosphere - we had to book as it was so popular. A bit more pricey than other places, but brilliant for a last night dinner.

Ru-b-lou's - we had a lovely meal here. It was quiet on the night we went, but don't let that put you off....the food is wonderful - try the BBQ ribs - enough to feed a small country! Loved the owner's cats - one has eyes like puss in boots in shrek!!

Melange - we had a lovely meal in the upstairs section of this restaurant (upstairs is indian style, downstairs more caribbean feel, and a bit more pricey) the curry was the best I have had for a long time. Service was excellent, and the portions were a perfect size. Loved the slightly crazy decor - it was like being in someone's front room! Highly recommend this one.

Backyard cafe - just down from the turn off to pigeon point. Small cafe style restaurant serving light meals at night - great food when you've had a big lunch and only want a snack and some cold beers. Chicken mango salad sandwich - yum! Flying fish sandwich also great.

Pigeon Point - don't eat at the restaurant, the pizza is stodgy and has obviously been left lying for ages - go to the shack on the beach that serves roast bakes - amazing value and delicious food. Shark, ham and cheese, and flying fish bakes all come highly recommended!! Especially with hot sauce, and a wide variety of pickles that are on offer! You need to buy your beers at the bar as the shack doesn't sell alcohol.

Pizza boys - fantastic pizza and great value. We loved the spicy one with jalapenos....mmmm! we ate here before going to sunday school as we found the portions on offer at sunday school weren't that big.

La Tartaruga - our own personal favourite bar the seahorse. The staff are wonderful - the Italian owner is eccentric and a great host. The food was out of this world on BOTH our visits here (yes so good we went twice in two weeks!) - as good if not better than we've had on various trips to Italy. Bruschetta awesome, homemade pasta fantastic, seafood pasta wonderful. Go with the waiters recommendation for wine - the menu is so big you could spend your entire holiday reading through it! Not to be missed.
