Some Charloteville Restaurants April 2007

Post by Mcculloch »

We were in Charlotteville for 8 days in early April. The town was very quiet, much quieter than Easter last year. Gail's continued to be our favourite restaurant. We went there twice. Her food seems to be consistently good (quite spicy, so beware, if you are not so keen on that). The tuna I had was wonderful. Some customers were a bit fed up with the long wait for food, but that's what it's often like up there. Only suggestion we would have, is that she provide bottled mineral water (only beer and soft drinks were available on the nights we were there).

We went to Jane's Quality Kitchen on two evenings (and once at some other time of day for a snack). It was excellent, a very close second to Gail's. The kingfish was the best we've had in Tobago, and all the side dishes were really well done. Jane's seems to be run at the moment by Charles and his son, who are certainly great cooks. The Thursday barbecue is popular with locals and tourists alike.

We went to Eastman's one evening. It was a bit disappointing and over-priced for what we had that night (we had shrimp which is more expensive, but there was very little of it, and only served with chips that evening). Maybe we chose the wrong night.

We ran out of time for Sharon and Phebe's. We'll just have to visit Charlotteville another time ....
