Mary's Hill Lodge - Reader Reports & Opinion

All fears of staying in a house that was not beachfront and thereby not get the "Tobago experience" was very quickly dismissed. The view and sounds of the hills coupled with the excellent private pool and the general feel good ambience of the house itself made it a wonderful stay.
Prompt and helpful service by the caretaker and her description of her day chilling by the beach made us glad that we choose not only Tobago but this charming wooden house as well.
After a hard day of snorkeling there will be no better memories than going back "home", getting the grill out and spending hours in the pool, watching the stars and because we had only a short stay, talking about how we were going to miss this heavenly retreat when we get back to reality.
Some more hammocks and lounge chairs are the only recommendations as we wanted for nothing while we were there and were pleasantly surprised at the amount of stuff that was provided.
All in all I hope I have the joy of staying at Mary hill lodge again.

"Very relaxing, fun and adventurous time"
We knew from the start service would've been great as we receive a call from Louise (House Manager) before our arrival to confirm all was well. This this turned out great because we misplaced the contact info.
Louise was very pleasant and offered to make herself available to our needs if required. This was not necessary as the house catered to all our needs.
The kitchen was equipped with a new microwave and BBQ grill, all pots, pans and utensils one may need. The stove and refrigerator though well used still works very good and this was great.
We also liked the open air design of the lodge, did not miss airconditioning at all, the secured walk around verandah, the pool was fantastic, kids did not miss having no tv but you got wi fi, the many books available, particularly, the one on various birds in Trinidad and Tobago that helped us identified some of the many we saw at the lodge (it was fun learning for the kids who took joy in the Cocrico and the sounds they made).
Being in the hills you really appreciate the newness of each day and being one with nature either almost, touching the the clouds when it rained or the sun when it shone but still not far away from the buzz Scarborough (less than 10 mins drive) loved it.
However, we didn't like that rough road up the hill to the house, a good thing it was just about 1min drive and having kids a security gate should be place at the top of stairs inside the house, Louise said it was mentioned and will be looked at.
Thank you for creating such beauty in an already beautiful place, we definitely enjoyed our stay hardly left the lodge and will return again.

Mary's Hill Lodge is a beautiful connect to nature. If you enjoy the natural environment, if you enjoy foliage, if you enjoy fauna, if you enjoy birds, yes this is where you could stay. If you don't, after staying at Mary's Hill Lodge you will sure learn to appreciate these things.
Oh the birds! It was a wonderful experience being awaken by the chirping of the birds on mornings. Following the sounds led the eyes to some very beautiful coloured birds. Some of which I had never seen before.
With such hot tropical weather it was invitingly relaxing to cool off by the pool in the privacy of my chosen companions. We enjoyed our stay and am sure that the same pleasure we derived from Mary's Hill Cottage you can too.
I go to Tobago twice every year and have stayed in many hotels and believe me when I tell you that Mary's Hill Cottage is special.

The house is approached by a (terrifyingly) steep drive and is set among beautiful trees with a nice garden. The swimming pool provides respite from the heat, as does the cool breeze which blows through the lattice windows. The house is extremely comfortable and well equipped, with comfortable beds and lounge furniture. We enjoyed returning to the house after days touring the lovely island and lying on the beach. A couple of people telephoned the house to make a booking and asked us to book them in! All we could do was recommend they book through Laura, and we said we were highly delighted by the whole experience of St Mary's Hill Lodge. We were woken each morning by a cock crowing, and the noise of more exotic birds. The nearby Church played pan music on Saturday evenings which wafted up the valley. We ate in most evenings, and enjoyed the home-from-home feeling of this very private accommodation. This is a lovely house and must be one of the best places for visitors to Tobago. Highly recommended.
