Pretty near perfect, for us at any rate. It's not luxurious, but it has everything you need, is virtually on the beach, and is approx 20 meters from a bar. The reef is close to shore, and we saw a turtle whilst out snorkeling, and a huge number of fish. Lots of different birds visited the feeder every day when we put out fruit for them, and fruit bats visited the nectar feeder at night.
This will not suit anyone wanting nightly entertainment, and it's a long way from the airport and 'civilization', but as that was exactly what we wanted it suited us fine.

Our second stay at the Beach House and it was just as fantastic as our first. We stayed in Coconut Heights again and this is a wonderful apartment with stunning views of the sea. Sunsets are a must preferably with a rum punch in your hand!! Could not recommend the property more highly.

This accommodation was a little too rustic for our taste and probably a little over priced for what we got. No AC, lots of mosquitos (even burning the coils), an old wooden building, and a noisy bar next door. We stayed in the middle six's unit downstairs. There was a minimal kitchen. This place is very hard to find and down a steep hill. The town doesn't have much in the way of eating places, maybe because we were out of season! On the positive side, the ocean was just steps away. Oh yea, you have to have a phone to contact the landlord who was nice, but on the other side of town.

We stayed at the Beach House in Castara for 6 nights in April and had a great time! The location and openness of the flat is great. It is private and hidden, tough very central - a paradise with all our nice animal- and human neighbours. We feed the hummingbirds (Kolibri in german) Porridge gave us the recipe: mix one cup of white sugar together with three cups of water, then boil it, let it cool down and ready is the sweet nectar. By the way not only humming birds like it, in the night the bats came and served themselves. It was so interesting to watch them and all the colourful birds. Some people mentioned to bring earplugs, I personally loved the sound of the sea and the birds and the breeze, provides you with beautiful tropical dreams. But if you are sensible as my partner was, than they can be useful. I needed them just once for the Wednesday night party – best is to celebrate that night; just we had to stand up early for a planned dive. Little bay is very personal and great place for snorkelling - along the coast is a lively reef you see turtles, barracudas, big big sting rays, sometimes the visibility was not the best because of waves and wind but most of the days it was good. What I loved so much in Tobago was that most of the animals are free and you share the open space with chicken families, goats, cats, very nice friendly dogs ...(they care for you and become your best friends if you like them, if you are not a dog lover they notice it immediately and leave you alone). As many people mentioned, it is nice to rent a car and drive around – as there are no street signs, you better stop and ask the locals, even if they sometimes seem to look a bit grumpy they are very nice and helpful. Take care of the cows as they love to sleep on the streets; therefore they are called Tobago’s speed bumps. I will come back for sure. Nora

We stayed at The Beach House for two weeks in April. This was the 7th time we had stayed there, and it won't be the last.
From the moment we arrived, we felt all our stresses just drift away.
We find the noise of the waves at night relaxing, although some light sleepers might need ear plugs, as local dogs and cockerels don't always respect the quiet of night time ! I love waking up to the sounds of the birds, and sitting on the deck watching the bay come to life.
The Beach House is always spotlessly clean when we arrive, and Carlene (sp ?) comes by every 3 or so days to change the bedding and towels . There are brooms and mops provided for your use during your stay.
The kitchens are well provided with plenty of utensils and pots and pans. We tend to eat in mostly, as my husband is a keen fisherman , and you just can't beat freshly caught mahi mahi , kingfish or tuna. There are several stores in the village selling fruit and vegetables, although we do tend to go to DJ's shop on the corner of the road to the big beach. He is such a lovely man, and stocks all sorts of things in his shop as well as fruit and veg.
The apartments all have hummingbird feeders, which , this year in particular , have attracted loads of humming birds , including the spectacular Ruby Topaz. If you want an amazing spectacle, leave the feeders out at night and watch the bats come and take the sugar water. (or take the feeders down at night if you don't like bats !)
The Boathouse restaurant next door, hold drumming and music nights on a Wednesday evening. These are good fun, and the rum punch is great !
Porridge and Jeanell who look after visitors to the Beach House, are always a delight, and SO helpful.
We always take a trip or two out birding with Newton George, who is a fantastic bird guide. He will pick you up from Castara if you don't have transport. This year we went over to Trinidad with him for a day..amazing experience, especially seeing the Scarlet Ibis come in to roost on the Caroni Swamp.
If you want to go fishing, then Anaconda is your man. He is now based at Buccoo but will collect you from Little Bay. Another good guy is Jade who has a boat in Castara.
To sum it up, the Beach House for us is perfect, and I have never been more at peace than when I'm lying in the hammock listening to the waves, and watching the frigate birds sail overhead.
Can I come back next week please ??
