I stayed here for my honeymoon in a studio room. The room was decent, clean and comfortable; a functional kitchenet; cable tv; hot&cold water and air condition. The balcony had a beautiful view overlooking the sea. Privacy was good and room service cleaned the room and replenished items like soap ans toilet paper every morning. the staff were and nice helpful. There is a nice walkway through the garden to the beach and the pool is clean and nice.
The only downsides is that the pool access is restricted to between 9am and 6pm. The other negative is the prices of in house meals are really extravagant and variety is limited.
All in all a great place and will stay there again.

Agree with much of that. We are here now in a cabana at the far right hand end of the grounds - next to Johnsons and the steps to the beach.

No complaints about the accommodation (except for the very noisy fridge/freezer - turbo charged frost free - it runs non-stop! Has to be unplugged at night) and the fact that it two and a half days to get some sunbeds.

However, there are other serious downsides:
Considerable aircraft noise from the airport - although not so much at night.
An incredible amount of noise from the Store Bay Beach Facility and cars parked on the road outside with radios going full blast. Our cabana was literally vibrating until 2.30am last night with the thumping bass. Everyone around here is fed up with it.
Agree on the prices at the restaurant. A simple meal for two of char sui ribs (4) and a bit of salad, 3 beers (275ml each - apparently there is nothing bigger), a coke, 2 bottles of water, a slice of carrot cake and an ice cream cost the best part of £40! Prices in surrounding 'restaurants' (often no more thn shacks) are similar or worse- and remember that they will add 10% service and then 15% VAT to their published prices. Takeways are at least as expensive as at home.
Self-catering is not easy - not because we do not have the facilities, but because of the lack of food shops; there are mini-marts, but 99% of the shelf space seems to be condiments, oils, spices etc - almost nothing from which to construct a meal! We eventually found a piece of cheese, a packet of ham, tins of sardines and tuna, eggs and bread. There seems to be one fruit and veg stall (good quality).
Apart from the beach and the very pleasant hotel grounds, the area has very little to recommend it. Noisy and a bit run down.
I do not think we will be returning!

Regarding Self-catering..

"Lack of food shops" correct, but..

There´s a BIG Penny Savers in Canaan, and it´s a short ride with car or taxi to buy what ever needed.
When staying into hotel areas, never mind where you stay, you can not expect a Super Market around the corner.
Self-catering doesn´t mean there´s a Super Market just around the corner.
