Polish visa?

Postby SueShard » Wed May 02, 2012 6:13 pm

I am planning on travelling to Tobago with a Polish friend. I have searched various sites to check if she needs a visa and some are conflicting. I think that she does not need one if staying for less than 30 days, could any knowledgable person confirm this please, many thanks.

Hello Sue

According to the official T&T site at www.gotrinidadandtobago.com/travel-information/ a visa IS required for visitors from Poland. As you will see, these notes say "Applications for entry visas must be submitted to a Trinidad and Tobago Mission abroad or where there is no office, to a British Embassy or Consulate in a non-Commonwealth country." I doubt that they have an embassy in Poland, so perhaps your friend can apply in London. Unfortunately, the link to the T&T Immigration Dvision is broken and I've been unable to find a link for further information. Scout through that site and perhaps contact them via the relevant page there.

Hi Sue,

Polish nationals do NOT need a visa for up to 30 days. Passports have got to be valid for the duration of your stay.
I know it for sure as my wife is Polish and we've visited Tobago seven times already.

Hi Robert

Thanks for confirming that. Say's it all about the T&T government, doesn't it, when their own website can't get the facts right.

Thanks very much Robert and Steve, you can see why I was confused! I have sent an email to T&T travel site asking the question but as yet they have not replied, it will be interesting if they do to see what they say! This is why we all love Tobago !!!

Hi Steve and Sue,

I totally agree they are very confusing. The website of the Immigration Division shows the correct info but It is inaccessible at the moment. The website of the High Commission in London has recently been redisigned but still showing the incorrect info. The best facility to check visa and entry requirements is provided by IATA. 100% accurate and updated minute by minute. Virgin atlantic used to host the same facility but sadly it was replaced by Visacentral which proved to be unreliable. It was actually my wife who told them to correct the info regarding the entry requirements for Polish people.

It's worth checking IATA as visa and entry requirements change quite often.
I remember two years ago I had to go through something similar when I only had about 3 month validity left on my passport.
It used to be at least 6 months to enter TnT. Now, passports only gotta be valid for the duration of your stay.

KLM.com is still using the facility provided by IATA. Click on 'prepare for travel' then scroll down and click on 'health, passport and visa'. Scroll down and click on ' specific entry requirements for your country of destination'.
You'll find all the info you're after and they are 100% accurate.

Rob
