I hate to say we were dissapointed on arriving at the resort after a long flight to find we had no room booked in our name although the holiday had been booked for almost a year.Eventually we were shown to a room where it became obvious they were not expecting us.As it was dark we were not sure we had been given the correct type of room untill next day.We had no welcome pack and throughout the two weeks they ran out of coffee for the rooms and i eventually had to take milk from the machine in the bar for next mornings drinks. It got decidedly worse over the two week stay.

I will however point out that the cleaning ladies did a better job than the people on reception who we found to be decidedly rude and unhelpfull.The ladies did their best to make us feel welcome and put flowers in the room after i had admired the flowers in the gardens.

The spar treatments were desperately needed although in the second week staff did not turn up due possibly to a staff party the previous night so i had to rearrange my appointment.Also because the resort was not busy they gave half the staff the week off causing one of the two restuarants to close limiting choice and pool bar was closed.The sunbeds were filthy and stained and got washed a few days before we left just in time for the Christmas bookings.

The highlight of the day was at breakfast when we were delighted by the birds where they tried to beat us to drinking our orange juice and late afternoon where they came on to our to balcony for their daily treat as the rest of the entertainment provided in the evenings was very hit and miss.

Generally speaking we would not stay at this resort if we ever go back to Tobago.

We normally go to the Greece Islands every year, and although the accomodation is basic which is expected and we normally self cater we are always made to feel very welcome we were expecting a great deal more from our holiday considering the cost.This was to be a special treat which it

certainly did not turn out to be i am sorry to say.

One thing is certain i enjoyed your website very much and have recommended it to people considering visiting

Tobago and will continue to do so.

We have recently returned home, from our Holiday at the Le Grand Courlan Spa resort. 16th November to 30th November 2006

I can only say that our rating of this hotel spa resort would in crease to a 4 star accommodation with a little bit of work to the hotel exterior. The rooms were excellent, the spa treatment included was well arranged and available throughout the two weeks we were there, if the times were not suitable to an individual, they were rearranged with no fuss. My Wife informed me that the treatment was on par with a 4 star hotel. Our rating of the staff in dealing with our needs exceeded the 3 star rating, they made you feel as though you were at a 5 star accommodation, we couuld not praise the satff enough. The fact that the General Manger makes herself available to all guests on the tuesday get together, enables you to meet her and discuss your individual needs. All facilities were avaialable and when we had a minor issue with the A/C it was remided before we returned to the room on the same day.

Overall We had an excelent time, which was made even better by the tremendous hospitality of all the staff at this Hotel.

Would we go back to this hotel. YES without any hesitation.

Le Grand Courlan

We visited Tobago during the second half of June 2006 staying for two weeks. We had three rooms at Le Grand Courlan resort and spa. One for my wife to be and I, one for her 20 year old son. The third being shared by our respective daughters aged 19 &21.

All the rooms where together and had stunning sea views. They were clean, comfortable and very well maintained throughout our stay.

The staff were without exception cheerful, friendly and helpful.

The highlight of our trip was our wedding. This was organised by the hotel and turned out to be a delightful day. The setting was idyllic, on the beach. It was a small simple service officiated by a local minister and attended by our children and a few friends we made during our stay. Truly a day to remember.

My wife and our children all used the spa treatments that were offered as part of the all-inclusive package. The days soon started to revolve around assorted scrubs, rubs and manicures. All of which were a very high standard, administered by professional staff.

I ‘traded’ my spa treatments for dives with the padi accredited dive centre attached to the resort. ‘Eco divers’ provided a fantastic range of dives to suit beginners through to the more experienced adventurers. For two weeks of spa treatments I received five free dives and one lesson to upgrade my certification. The dives were just what I imagined diving in the Caribbean should be, colourful and exciting. The staff were again very helpful, friendly and professional.

We took all of our meals in the resort, using both restaurants and the beach bar. Breakfast and lunch were buffet style meals and always good. The evening meal was waiter service and exceptional, we always looked forward to our dinner.

We had a holiday that we will all remember for a long time to come.

Would we go back to Tabago? Oh yes.

Would we use Le Grand Courlan again? Definitely.

Just got back from this hell hole had a week there it was disgusting.

air con did not work properly, food was terrible staff were miserable and to top it off my partner fell down a hole by the pool and broke her finger breaking her fall.

this hotel is not a 4 star it is more like 2

Super hotel , relaxed yet efficient service.

Choice of restaurants which were equally good- one buffet style ,one serviced.

Good clean pool. Quiet, lovely fellow guests. All inclusive was beautifully handled –everything really was included.

Full marks to the staff who were a delight. We had a standard garden view room which turned out to have a view of the ocean. Well managed this hotel suited our desire to chill out but in a friendly atmosphere where even our high standards were met.
