Good location close to the beach. Good breakfast served to the rooms. Steve was one of the friendliest and most helpful persons I met. Great balcony with comfortable furniture.

Should improve the ventilation in the bathroom and the whole apartment. The smell was somewhat unpleasant in the bathroom.

My Husband and I were thrilled at the thought of staying in Castara and I must say that being at Angel Apartments made the experience even more wonderful. At first, we were a bit daunted by the lack of a TV but before the end of our first day we were hardly missing it at all! The lovely wide deck and very comfortable seating ensured that our focus was on the lush flora and fauna of Castara.

We stayed in one of the topmost apartments and although it wasn't at the end where we would have then gotten a wider view of the sea, we still had a fantastic view of the mountain range and village. The birds provided a lot of entertainment at breakfast on the balcony (I just had to mention them!) The actual apartment was surprisingly spacious with an open plan kitchen and dining area and ensuite bedroom. I say 'ensuite' but I don't think that begins to describe the size of the bathroom - it was huge! Maybe a bit too huge, but it was, again, in keeping with the spacious feel of the whole place.

The owners - all the way in the UK - were prompt in their replies to any of our email enquiries on directions etc. Our attendant, Steve, wasn't the friendliest we've ever met but he showed us the basics - I guess as he knew we were locals he figured we didn't need much direction on the ins and outs of the island.

All in all our stay at Angel Apartments was wonderful and we would (and have already) recommend it to anyone who is thinking about a Tobago retreat.

Our family really enjoyed staying at Castara, the village and it's people are so friendly and made us feel welcome, we didn't feel unsafe going into the village at night and everyone would say hello as you walked by. The road down to the area is very steep and winding, but, they manage to get down it with cars, which are only a handful. The location of Angel Apts. is very beautiful, a stones throw from the beach beautiful views from our top floor covered balcony, with comfortable wicker furniture, which we basically lived outside on our balconies when we were there, which are nice if you are together with others as they all join but also have some privacy if you want. A beautiful way to spend your mornings and evenings even when you would have a refreshing rain shower. We had 3 adjoining apartments, the apartments weren't as well equiped as they should of been but, we managed to get what we needed between the 3 of them and they do need some repairs, the fridge wasn't working very good in one apartment so the would be the first thing to check if you stay here. It was very clean when we arrived, and they did clean it once during our stay of 6 nights and if you did need anything you could ask the caretaker and he would do his best to get it for you. We did have air conditioning in the bedroom, which was great and the bed was comfortable. We loved the Boathouse restuarant, right on the beach. The best food on our whole trip and you will love the staff and owners, they become your friends. The beach was lovely, just a few people on it and we snorkelled right there. All the properties in this little bay and the owners and staff are all one little family and truly make your holiday enjoyable. They are such friendly people. One thing we all agreed on about our stay at Angel Apts. is that the large comfortable covered balcony with it's spectacular views and the closeness of a beautiful quiet little bay with a lovely beach and the Boathouse restaurant made up for the few things that could of been better in the apt. as you would have to pay alot more money to stay that close the beach.

This is our seventh trip to the Caribbean but our first to Tobago. It won't be our last.

One of the ladies that we met on our trip to Tobago told us that we were lucky to have found Tobago and even luckier to have found Castara... she was quite right.

Castara is not a resort.... Castara is a working fishing village with a real community and a few apartments. We were made to feel very welcome right from the outset of our trip. Steve, the manager at Angel Apartments made sure that we had everything we needed and introduced us to some of the local people who have since become our friends.

The apartments are spacious and simply but tastefully furnished. We stayed in T1 - which is probably the best in the block ... on the top floor.... level with the canopy of the forest and a view over the bay. The furniture on the verandah is comfortable and it was very easy just to sit there and watch the birds eating from the feeders. The self catering facilities are perfectly adequate with the all important fridge for keeping the Caribs cool. A local man makes the trip around from big bay everyday with delicious fruit for you to buy.

The apartments are literally a stones throw away from the beach but contrary to other reports cannot actually be seen from the beach (unless you are twenty five feet tall). If you want discos and nightclubs.. don't go. If you want five star luxury and a la carte restaurants - don't go. If you want a place where you can enter in to the local culture and spirit of a place... this is the place for you. One of the comments on the Trip Advisor website says this is not a restful holiday because of the local wildlife. We're amazed. We sat on the balcony watching beautiful birds, listening to the sounds of the waves on the shore as the sun went down. Yes there is the odd cockrel that crows a bit before dawn.... yes there are the sounds of nature all around you..... this is Castara - between the sea and the rainforest - what do you expect?

Once a week the local Boat House bar/restaurant has an evening where the local steel pan group play and the local fisherman by day play the drums. The drums finish by midnight - and some local reggae music is played for you to dance to. This is a fabulous evening...... don't miss it wherever you are staying on the island.... join in! I'm sure Sharon and Brendon will be happy to welcome you to the Boat House anytime... they serve good local food...and the rum punch and Carib slip down a treat.

If you're not sure you can enjoy yourself in paradise... please don't go ... leave it to those of us who can....... and who appreciate it. We will certainly be going back!

We have recently returned from Castara and, although we didn't stay at Angel Apartments, I just wanted to write a short report.

We spent a lot of time at Heavenly Bay and met Steve, who manages Angel Apartments. He was extremely helpful on several occassions, particularly on our last day, when we had to leave another apartment in the morning and had all day to wait until our flight back to the Uk.

We saw the inside of a couple of the apartments and thought they were good value for money. They aren't modern like some of the others but extremely spacious and clean and you definitely would get value for money if you stayed here.

Angel Apartments have a view of Heavenly Bay and are seconds from this wonderful beach.

Thanks again to Steve!
