My wife, 21 month old daughter and I stayed in Essex Cottage for two weeks during our honeymoon in April and in a nutshell, we had the best possible time!

Essex Cottage is fantastic; it’s located in Parlatuvier which is a beautiful fishing village on the north-east part of the island. We travelled around the island for two weeks and this is the real Tobago! If you want resorts and busy beaches then you’re better off staying near the airport but if you want a bit of quiet, local walks in the rain forest, friendly locals, wildlife, amazing quiet beaches then this is simply the place to be. It’s also located not far from Castara if you want a bit more life but nothing too touristy.

Essex Cottage is great, well kitted out and furnished, clean, incredible views and Bea and Win are great hosts. They are very knowledge about the area and helped us organise car hire and various excursions. We had a meal cooked by Bea on a couple of occasions and the food was wonderful. We also used their grill to cook chicken and fish (purchased very cheaply from the local fisherman). We used the pool a lot which is great and has the best views. The landscaped gardens are amazing and very well looked after.

. Thanks so much Bea and Win for making our stay so enjoyable.

I have never before been somewhere that looks exactly like the pictures ... but it does. Uncle Wynn and aunty Bea were amazing hosts always willing to help and eager to know how to make your stay more comfortable. The village itself was breath taking and the people were extremely friendly always ready to strike up a conversation.

The view of the sea at night especially from the infinity pool was like a romantic movie scene. I can't remember the last time I could see every single star in the sky like I did there. There were humming birds, among other species, in the garden and around the cottage where we stayed.

The waterfall was so refreshing and cool while the sea was warm and inviting. I think my hair was wet for my entire stay ... from the pool to the sea to the waterfall and back ... hahaha it was lovely!!!!!!!!

We feel very fortunate to have found Gloucester Place in Tobago. It is a laid-back, lush and gorgeous piece of paradise. The B&B, the property, the pool, the birds, the accomodations, the food were all outstanding. Our stay was so relaxing.

Better yet, were the charming hosts, Bea and Win Sargent. They did EVERYTHING that they could to make our stay a memorable one. Bea is a world class cook. Her "paradise pancakes" are to die for. All of the food prepared for us was fresh and first quality. Bea was wonderful in accomodating my unusual dietary needs and worked with me to insure that every meal was special.

What we liked most of all was the inside view of what ordinary life is really like on Tobago. Win and Bea give so much back to their community by tutoring school children, selling native crafts for local artisans (they take NO profit from these sales) and helping to re-build homes for their neighbors. We enjoyed meeting local residents and tourists at their B & B. Win & Bea are gracious hosts to all who stay with them...even the difficult trio from Grenada who were guests during our stay. Win goes out of his way to make sure that he points out all the highlights of the island.

We can recommend Gloucester Place to all without reservation!

We stayed at Gloucester Place for 3 nights after the end of a 9 night birding trip to Trinidad and Tobago. It was the perfect place to unwind and relax and use as a base to explore the island on our own. Win and Bea Sargent made you feel like guests visiting good friends. The rooms and the whole place was clean, airy and beautifully designed. We had our own balcony off our room with spectacular views down to the a cove on the coast - just 100 feet below you. There's even a very cool blowhole! The property itself has birds, beautiful flowers and a wonderful horizon pool. The breakfasts varied each day but were all excellent. Cereal, fruit and toast was always available, but there was always an interesting hot dish as well. We also chose to have two of our dinners there and they were excellent as well. Bea and Win were helpful in answering our questions and giving us ideas of places to go. If you'd like to see our pictures of the place - rooms, interior, pool, flowers, birds, etc, you can look in the Gloucester Place folder on our trip website at "BirdingTrinidadAndTobago.Shutterfly.com" We certainly hope to return one of these days and bring some friends with us.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Gloucester Place for 3 nights & I'm so incredibly glad we ended up choosing this place to stay. As soon as we pulled into the driveway, their welcome was so warm, friendly and genuine. We stayed at the Essex Cottage and to be honest, I was a bit worried b/c mosquitoes do love me a bit too much. It was fine b/c there are mosquitoes coils, spray, fans and a mosquito net for the bed. If anyone is worried about getting bitten, all I can say is -- if I can handle it...anyone can! It was wonderful to wake up to the birds chirping right at the window and to hear a nearby waterfall as well as the waves crashing into the rocks. We also went to a nearby/suggested grocery stand and store to pick up food and cooked ourselves a nice meal on our last night there. The house is absolutely beautiful -- everything about it. Win & Bea (& Wonder - the dog) really makes you feel right at home. They were just so pleasant to talk to and exchange stories from our travels.

Again -- I'm SO happy that we chose to stay here. It may be about an hour from the airport, but it's SO worth to travel to the other side of the island. Win and Bea makes great suggestions for restaurants, groceries and activities.

If you're looking for a relaxing & non-touristy vacation and would like to meet by far one of the most awesome couples out there -- you must stay at Gloucester Place.
