We recently had the good fortune to stay at Villa Tosca at Sanctuary Villa Resort in beautiful Tobago . This was our first visit to Tobago and we were hoping for a nice relaxing time in the tropics but weren't quite sure what to expect. On first arriving at Villa Tosca, you are filled with an aura of warmth that comes from a home and not just a rental house. We were captivated by the view from the patio and the beautiful singing birds. The Villa was spacious and clean and met all our needs . Our maid, Catherine, was courteous and professional yet flexible in adjusting to our holiday schedule. The car that was provided as part of the package was a blessing as it allowed us to roam around the island at our leisure. We liked the location, which provided quick access to beaches at Stonehaven Bay and Mt. Irvine Bay. The Tosca website represented itself extremely well and everything was as described. In conclusion, we thank Malcolm and Annie for providing this wonderful villa and being great hosts from afar We look forward to a return visit in the near future. Villa Tosca is indeed a most comfortable retreat in a Tobagian Tropical paradise.

Villa Tosca is a superb home from home with a wonderful distant view of the Caribbean Sea, a cooling private plunge pool and very comfortable furnishings. In addition, the use of the owners' 4 wheel drive car was extremely useful and enabled us to get around and see a great deal of Tobago. Self-catering gave us the opportunity to buy fresh fish and lobster from the Mount Irvine Wall fishermen and provided the freedom that even the most exclusive hotel just cannot deliver. After a trip to the Asa Wright Nature Centre in Trinidad we ended our visit to Tobago at the Tobago Hilton - and wished we were back "home" at Sanctuary Villas and Tosca just up the road!

We have just come back from two weeks at this lovely house.

We always expected the holiday to be special as we planned to get married while on the island but it exceeded all our expectations.

Tosca is a gem. It is beautifully furnished and equiped. It really was our home from home. We loved the location and spent many happy hours sitting on the terrace looking at the views out to Bucoo reef and watching the birds. Malcolm and Annie have thought of everything and manage to be excellent hosts even from thousands of miles away, even calling us to wish us luck and check that everything was O.K.

We will certainly be going again and after seeing our photographs there will probably be a queue of people wanting to come with us!

Richie Anderson from U.K. visited in February 2006 and awarded  Four out of Five

We first went in Feb 2004, then Feb 2005, then Feb 2006. The second and third visits were like going back to our very own holiday home. The first 2 visits we travelled a lot, but this time didn't go far because so much is nearby, and we did find a few more excellent restaurants, all of which I believe are recommended on this site. We also spent a lot more time at the house, just enjoying it, the view, birds, warm air, food and drink on the patio and asking ourselves why we don't stay for ever. I'd just say go there, go on the beaches, take the boat trips, eat the food, and slow right down to an easier pace of life for a while. The house is briliant. I wish it was mine!

Tosca - Villa At Prospect   09 Aug 2004

Peter R from Somerset, England

 We stayed in ‘Tosca’ one the villas on top of the hill at Prospect. It is really very comfortable, air conditioning and fans keep you cool, and the views from the terrace or even the splash pool out towards Buccoo Reef are lovely, there is a barbie to cook the lovely fresh fish from the local fleet a mile away at Mt Irvine beach. We also had a housekeeper in to clean and make the beds etc and also someone to clean the pool every day. It was so quiet and lovely that we were tempted to stay here all the time. The front of the villa backs on to Grafton bird sanctuary, we had frequent visits from bird life and saw 20 species from the villa (though the Cocricos are a bit noisy!). Grafton Beach is only 10 minutes walk away or 2 in the car which comes in the deal, Adventure Eco Divers are down there too and we went for some great scuba dives with them, they are locals and great fun too, I did my PADI certification with them.

Also handy at the bottom of the hill is the Sea Horse and Indigo Restaurants, a cash machine, local store, fruit shack and Pizza hut. All very convenient. It proved to a very good base for exploring the island with most of the good beaches, Pigeon Point, Scarborough, Mt Irvine Golf Course etc within a quarter of an hours drive. We drove round the island, saw the birds being fed at Arnos Vale and did a rain forest walk. We’ve hardly scratched the surface of this lovely island with its gentle friendly people and will return to Tosca to enjoy more of Tobago.
