3 hours stop over in Barbados

Post by Kate Rampersad »

Is there anything interesting to do around the airport in Barbados? We have a transfer to Port of Spain from there but 3 hours seems like a long time to spend at the airport, especially with a 3 year old...

We have had a couple of stopovers at Barbados Airport. There is nothing much to do there - it really is just an airport - but at least the departure lounge is large and airy and there are plenty of seats. If you like watching planes it's good as it overlooks the runway etc.

Things may have changed now, but when we travelled through there en-route to and from Grenada a couple of years ago they were not set-up to deal with transit passengers.

This meant that we actually had to go through Customs and Immigration and collect our cases before proceding to the check in desks for the on-going flight. Because of this, some people who had bought duty free goods at Gatwick had them confiscated for being over the 100ml limit when they went through the security check. I had travel size hair spray and hair mousse confiscated as the Grenadian security said that they didn't conform to their standards - although they had been fine at Gatwick!

I hope it's different for you now!
