Hello again and thanks to all for your great suggestions. You do a great job here, Steve. Would be hard to find out info about Tobago without this forum.
We emailed a few properties we are interested in staying at exactly a week ago & asked some questions. We have not heard back. What is normal time to wait for reply?
We have written to Blue Mango a few times - once being exactly a year ago last August, two weeks ago and then last week. We never have heard back from them any time. Has anyone?
Thanks,
Kathy
Places that don't return emails? Blue Mango?

Kathy. How long is a piece of string? The entire beauty of Tobago is that it is a largely non-commercialised country. Yes, a very large percentage of the businesses on the island - inlcuding most of the largest hotels - have not yet caught up with the virtual world. E-commerce is something that many of them have not fully grapsed yet and you have to consider the type of places that you are trying to communicate with. You've also written during a week when we've experienced the biggest email virus/spam blitz ever known - which has totally clogged many people's mailboxes.

Hi Kathy
The way around this problem is to email an island based agency, such as ourselves (self-catering specialists) or Yes Tourism, then we do the on-island enquiries and booking for you plus respond promptly to emails. There is no price increase either, a commission fee being charged to the service provider.
Regards

You got away with that one nicely, didn't you, Glyn? Gave me the best laugh I've had all day, you crafty sod!
Being serious, though, you are of course perfectly correct. It's by far the best way of making sure that your enquiries are dealt with promptly, plus it's not in any agents interest to book you into somewhere with a less than perfect reputation.

E-mail replies from The Blue Mango
I have e-mailed Colin Ramdeholl at the Blue Mango several times always with a reply in one to four days.
We have secured a reservation for one of the cottages for next Easter and sent a deposit by post. The pace of life is very slow as is the mail. My letter took over three weeks to arrive. However when I voiced my concern, Colin told me not to worry and e-mailed as soon as the cheque arrived.
He has furnished us with all the information we require at present in the most friendly way so I suggest you give it another try.

Re: Blue Mango - thanks, Tony
May I ask which email address you used to find him?
I still have not heard back. So we decided to just send the credit card info on the online form over a week ago but have not heard if we got the room or not. We are hoping for an email as we've written about 6 times over the past year and have not received one response.
Do you think he doesn't like America Online email addresses?
Seems strange.
But thanks again.

Blue Mango & Colin are cool
Hi,
Noticed this post has gotten a lot of views.
Don't want anyone to think there is problem with the Blue Mango. They are up and running and everything is fine.
They have just been having some email problems.
We spoke to Colin on the phone (got # from web site) and that was best way to reach him now until bugs worked out of email which is hopefully soon. Colin sounds like a great, helpful person btw...
Thanks,
Kathy
