Exact location for fish markets

Post by DavidKram »

I am looking at the wonderful Google Earth map with the lodging, restaurants etc. on it, but am having trouble exactly finding out where the Mt. Irvine or Bucco fish markets are loacted.

We have a rental in Bon Accrod, and hope to get some fresh fish for a meal or two when we are on the island.
I just wish to be sure I know where the markets are located.

Can someone let me know in better detail where these markets are? Is one better than the other?
Thank you,
David

I know two local places in the Crown Point area or nearby used by the fishermens:
- one is on the way to Pidgeon Point, just before the Conrado Beach Resort
- the other one is just before the local Mt Irvine Bay, not the hotel area
But I don´t know when they normally sell fish, you will have to ask locals, or maybe someone who know can add that info?

You can also try Scarborough, next to the ice house, located at the coast guard jetty.
Fishermen are selling there from morning until early afternoon off their boats.

Hello David

I've added location map markers for the Mt.Irvine and Buccoo fish markets to our interactive maps (http://www.mytobago.info/maps01.php ) and also to the (better) Google Earth kmz download. Buccoo has changed a lot in recent years, due to the building of a new goat racing stadium (yes, don't ask!!!) and I confess that I haven't wandered around there. It may have affected the location of the fisherman's stalls, but there's always lots of people around that area and they'll readily point you in the right direction.
