Seaweed

Post by TraceyN »

Hi. I understand there is a bit of a problem with seaweed on the Atlantic side. How bad is it? We are staying at Bacolet Bay late October. Hoping it won't be too bad. Any advice on places to visit would be great.

Hi Tracey

The sargassum seaweed is a major problem across the Caribbean and up as far as Mexico this year. The region gets it every year, but never normally as bad as this. As you say, the Atlantic side is the coast that suffers the most on Tobago. I know that Speyside is badly affected, but I have no information about the bays in the Bacolet area.

Hi. We're visiting in December, staying in Bon Accord. Has this cleared up?

Hello Anthony

Welcome aboard! :D

You should have no issues with seaweed on the Caribbean coast, particularly in the Bon Accord area.
