Ive just read in the Footprint guide to tobago that you should not walk around turtle beach at night. Is this really the case? If yes could people advise me of good local restaraunts and the safest way to travel. Im really looking forward to my stay and want to sample real tobago hospitality! regards nicky

Hi Nicky. Fear not! Simple common sense is all that is needed. To be frank, it's not advisable to walk alone on dark beaches anywhere in the world in this day and age, if we're totally honest. Tobago has nowhere near the problem of many, many places - but yes, as elsewhere it is not advisable for tourists to walk dark beaches, lanes or other isolated places except in groups. You'll be perfectly safe using any taxi arranged by the hotel - and take the taxi drivers card so you call him for the return. Have a great time.
