Tony,

Glad to hear that everything is okay. I'm sure it will be much easier to enjoy your Tobago holiday with that off of your mind.

Carolnoe & Steph,

Mea Culpa! Mea Culpa! Mea Culpa! [-o< I'll try to behave  Besides, David and I are as innocent as newborn lambs and as pure as the driven snow. (If I get any more poetic I think I'll p_ke :-& )

It sounds like you had a good time on your boat trip despite being the "Chief cook and bottle washer." My wife and I have talked about renting a houseboat and travelling up the Mississippi river for a week, but her idea of a vacation (since we only take two a year of a week or ten days) doesn't include any cooking or other chores so it has never gone beyond the talk stage. Perhaps when we retire and we're on permanent vacation we'll do it.

Steph,

Being at our lake cottage most every weekend from April thru November is almost like being on permanent vacation but, alas, I still have to put in five days of work every week. I have and enjoy my own business so I'll probably do this until I drop.

I agree that Her Majesty needs to tell us more of her adventure =D>

Hi Tony and Janette,

So pleased to hear your good news. You must both be so relieved.

From personal experience I know how long that wait can be - and how nothing compares when you get the all clear. As far as I'm concerned - the NHS is awful in some respects, but when things get serious, it really turns up trumps. From my "discovery" to "All clear " took just 7 days - and everyone - GP, consultant, registrar, nurses could not have been nicer and more helpful and reassuring.

Now you can look forward to your holiday with light hearts!

What a lovely bunch of crazy people you all are. Thank you all for your kind words. Yes, the seven days of not knowing were tough but we can put it behind us now. David, you will most certainly still see us in January. In fact we fly out exactly nine weeks today. Steph, we haven't met, but as we are going to be in Castara for three weeks this time, I'm sure we will.

Carolnoe,

After reading thru this thread, and some of the others, I feel "crazy" is a relatively mild term to use in describing a lot of the people (myself included) who contribute to this nonsense

In the big scheme of things, I'm happy with being deemed crazy... To be honest, that's probably something most of my friends would list as a term of endearment!

Glad to hear about Janette, Tony. The Big C seems to touch all of us, or those closest to us, sadly, and I don't think there's a person over the age of about 30 that hasn't been (or had someone close to them) affected. The sooner this horrid disease is eradicated in my book, the better. Every time I read of a breakthrough, my heart lifts a little. Hopefully one day - in my lifetime, if not, then, please God, be it in my kids' lifetime, they'll be able to say that it's a thing of the past.

Carolnoe... It's just as well this thread is entitled 'waffle'.... it's got to be the longest, most often-changed topic on the site by now!

Cheers each - have a great morning / afternoon / evening / night, depending where in the world you are!

Lisa.

Little Lamb Bill,
So, you're now a " fanatic" huh? Just you wait mate, I can't resist a challenge!
A cruise down the Mississippi( is that enough s's and p's?) sounds a bit more adventurous than Berkshire. Um, forgive my ignorance, but are there any alligators there? The fiercest things we saw were swans....
You and Steph want more of my tales from the canal? Have mercy my people!
Have you any idea how long it's taken me to type those three chapters? You HAVE read them all I trust?
I'll see how much more I can squeeze out of those six days.
I'm in a good mood this evenig. Not only did Hubby get home before me and cook the dinner, at work we have been told we're getting a 2.475% pay rise =D> They couldn't make it 2.5% could they? Oh dear no.

Carol "Little Bo-peep" noe

Unfortunately you only have about another thirty posts to the fanatic level and I have a feeling that I have to get to 500 before I change again :(

At the southern end (south of New Orleans), where the river empties into the Gulf of Mexico, you would find alligators but if we do this trip it would be at the northern end up near the headwaters. I'm sure it would be more adventurous than Berkshire as we would be sharing the river with 1000 foot long lashups of barges and tug boats. http://www.state.tn.us/environment/wpc/ ... ics/02.jpg

Ms Noe, I meant it in the nicest possible way. And Lisa, as far as I am concerned 'crazy' is most definitely a term of endearment. Better to be thought of as crazy than boring.

Oh yes, Steph, a little crazy is refreshing and also makes live just a little bit easier.

If I wasn't crazy I would not stuck on the internet to read things about my favourite beautiful and warm island while freezing in cold and rainy Germany. Longing to go back and not knowing when I can make it next. :?

A little crazy but totally nut about Tobago

Young Brother Tony,
I was only pulling your leg  I enjoy being crazy too, though I secretly think I'm the most sensible person here...
And what's with the "Ms Noe"? Why the formality all of a sudden? :(

Young Bill,
No we never saw anything as big as that on the canal, Britain being a tad smaller than the US. If you are more bored than you have ever been in your life, you can see our boat( seven feet wide, forty-five feet long) look at http://www.hoseasons.co.uk. and look for Kennet and Avon Canal, boat named" Cadley Lock".
Going shopping with Daughter this morning. Trying to find a winter coat that comes down lower than her ribs
Have a good day my brethren!

Still waiting to go shopping. Have had to wait for Daughter to get up, get dressed, have breakfast, talk to fifteen of her friends about the same stuff they talked about at school yesterday, and put on her make-up.
What time do the shops close?

My dear Earthling Watkins,
I'd like to follow your advice, especially as we came back with nuttin'!
"That's horrible. That's manky. I'd look like Cruella Deville in that .Oh yuk! That's a granny coat."
" I like that one mum!"
"But it's pure white, it'll be in the washing machine all the time!"
Maybe we should LIVE in Castara. All we'd need then would be shorts, t shirts and sandals and "Sunday best". Like these GORGEOUS little girls we saw dressed in white going to the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Castara.
Oh well, we'll try somewhere else. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your point of view) we live near good shopping centres. If we're really desperate (and I mean DESPERATE) we're only a twenty minute train ride from the dreaded London...
Yours exhaustedly
Crazy Carolnoe

Lucky Carolnoe! You live so close to London!

On the other site ... I went to London and found Camden Town, I was out of ma mind. This could be paradise for a girl who likes shoping! Unfortunately I didn't have an unlimited credit card (or know someone who ownes one and would let me use it...) and could only buy a few things like my coloured jacket (I came right out of Tobago and London was f****g cold this time). All my girlfriends envy me on that jacket.
