Hi Carol
Maybe this will help. From the menu bar at the top of MS Word(TM) choose Tools, then Options. This brings up a dialogue box with multiple 'tabs' on it. Click on the 'Spelling & Grammar' tab, and you will find check-boxes where you can turn off and/or modify the behaviour of both the spell checker and the grammar checker.

Jonathan
PS this advice is for Word 2003; the method for other versions will be very similar. One of the things that Microsoft does well is Help, so generally it's worthwhile to press F1 :)

Oh Sis you have filled me with longing to be there again. Janette and I walked up those steps in January to pay a surprise visit to Horace and Susan Jackson who live up at the very top - 103 steps, if I remember correctly. They were both witnesses at our wedding on Mt Dillon the previous year. Lovely people!

the broccoli farmer without his hat... that's a first! :D

lovely part of your diary, noe. I congratulate you to making it down those steps every day... sometimes I don't go down mine for days and most people know what I see

right now the sea is rough and it looks wonderful. can't get enough of it. for our entertainment some people still try to swim although the red flags are out and pay it with the loss of their fins, masks and swimshorts  (bet david had some good laughs there, too when he was sitting on his balcony pretending to read...)

noe, tell you husband that the world is by far not that big anymore and that size does not matter anyway  but quality does! hope to meet you in person here one day...

Jonathan,
Thanks for the technical information. I've just checked through the post (now it's too late to make any corrections) and found a mistake! Either the wiggly lines didn't appear, or I made it when doing a final bit of tinkering before pressing submit!

Tony, I've stared at the photo of Horace and Susan very hard, but can't be sure that I recognise them; though Horace possibly. One regret I have is that we didn't get to know the people of Castara more. We should have spent some time liming in the bars and restaurants instead of on the verandah, and not just be "the tourists up the hill" ( though we are not really pubby and bar -y people) But can you take fifteen year olds into bars in Tobago? Maybe we'll go back when she's eighteen and have a re -run!
And what is it about that name Jackson that crops up all the time?

David, you've not been paying attention! [-X I've already said to young Bill that our timeshare is on Tresco! I'll let you off though as I have posted quite a lot today....
Our cottage is a converted barn called Sandpiper. You can look it up on the site for Tresco Estate if you've a mind to.
I wouldn't dream of saying Scilly Isles, and the locals are Scillonian, not Cornish! You won't see the Cornish flag there.
There is a roundabout in Surrey called the Scilly (silly) Isles...

Steph,
From now on Tony will be known as the Broccoli Farmer of Ryde, whether he likes it or not!
I'm sure I caught a glimpse of you driving a zebra-patterned truck in Castara, but didn't realise it until looking at your site recently. I suppose you will now tell me that there are several blonde white women driving zebra-patterned trucks in Castara!
I live in hope of coming back one day. My husband already knows that size doesn't matter...
Enjoy watching people lose their shorts!
See ya!

guess that was me behind the wheel... the zebra carries many tourists, but it is only driven by alibaba (the man himself) jackson (that would be gaston, the brother of horrace, and the name popped up again), mendales (also known as dallo, a bit shoerter than ali but otherwise mistaken for the man sometimes, it almost fits, shapewise...)or on ocasion ME!

no more watching people loose their textiles...the sea is so rough now, that nobody dares to enter. castara is still OK but in mt irvine it is washing over the road... guess that would belong in the weather section, wouldn't it?!

good thing nobody is hiding easter eggs on the beaches of tobago, they would be all gone... guess the broccoli farmer of ryde has to straighten out his "field" after the storm to propperly hide some clorful eggs

enjoy your easter folks

Morning Steph and all others
We have all the family down today so will be having an Easter Egg hunt in the garden for the grandchildren, I know its a religous festival and this must be remembered but as a holiday for the children its too early, we had quite heavy sleet this morning and its freezing.
Do you know the reason for the sea being so rough?
We will all be singing "I'm dreaming of a white Easter" after our all fish lunch today (would prefer it to be Kingfish on Ancles terrace though)
Regards to all of Carols readers

paul tallet might know... I am not quite fit in meteorological terms... some bad weather coming from the atlantic pushing it in...?!
the life guards all over the island said, to forget about swimming and other water activities. [-X boat tours are cancelled and only few tourists with craziness sparkiling in their eyes and surf boards under their arms have been seen looking for a place to actually enter the water in mt irvine while the water was covering the street, no beach was to be seen and apparently a boat was pulled off its anchor and crashed into the rocks... when will they ever learn? [-o<
the news coverage on channel five was poor last night, so we hope to see some more today.
I agree on the "kids need easter eggs theorie" but so far it seems not very popular here. I am sure it will come  good for me since I love being the easter bunny. this year we don't even have tourist kids in the house to hide eggs for :(
enjoy your white and cold easter wherever you all are

greetings from the rough but sunny beach

What we all have to remember,no matter wht your faith or religion,is that we are commerating the death of a man who gave himself for others,in the name of God(in what ever language or belief).
Just be good to each other,is the teaching!
David,in Jesus,Mohamed(blessed be his name) and all real peace believers.

Hello All,

Sitting in my office looking out the window at the falling snow  The Easter Bunny is going to need snowshoes

It seems there is a huge storm and low pressure system over the Atlantic which is causing huge swells throughout the Caribbean. Tobago is not alone in having huge waves crashing over the beaches.

I wish you all a Happy Easter.

Hi All,

The seas are pretty rough here, as Steph and others have said. It doesn't help that it's the Spring Equinox this weekend... I'm completely uneducated about these things, but I know that it somehow involves the tides changing and it's not likely to improve very much before Sunday. Hopefully soon after that, things will get back to normal.

A happy, peaceful Easter to you all.
Lisa.

Hello Paul :D
We don't see you here very often.
I agree with you about Easter. I know the date is decided according to the moon and the equinox, but why? Why not have a fixed date?
Our borough has been very sensible this year so that the school Spring holiday is in two weeks time and not tied to Easter so that the children don't have a very short half -term followed by a very long one.
Have a lovely day with your grandchildren, weather not withstanding!

Steph, your English gets better by the day; I love "losing their textiles"!
And what's all this Steph-bunny and Ali-rabbit all about? What you get up to in the privacy of your own home is your business I suppose...

David,
What saddens me (and I'm not religious in a formal way) is the gross commercialisation of Christmas, and now Easter, as shown by shops like Woolworths and Clintons. An example; Woolworths last year were selling "Easter Bunny Dressing Up Costumes" for cats and dogs :!: Dressing up your cat as a rabbit :?: :?: Words fail me!
I have a radical idea; let's start again. Let's acknowledge that these two festivals now have little or no connection with Christianity, let them return to being the pagan festivals they once were, and allow true Christians to have their religious festivals as and when they see fit, separate from Christmas (Yule)and Easter (Estre).
On a slightly different note; I work with a devout Muslim lady who not only covers her head at important times for her such as Ramadan, but also at Christmas, Lent and Easter, as her way of showing respect.

Bill,
Keep warm!

Bruv,
We haven't heard from you today, but take care of your broccoli (and your broccoli will take care of you! )
Peace to you all
Love Noe

Hello Carol
Some very good words today from David and yourself about a topic which is easy to get too serious about as all religions should think of peace as the most important component, as I only live about 6 miles from Tony (as the crow flies) I think he may well be out on his farm covering his purple sprouting up to avoid the cold as its not so good if it gets frozen.
I am unsure if Tony and I shared the same field at the IOW festivals between 1968-1970 (I sat with 6 draft dodgers from the US and a crowd from Canada in 1970 and the flag we waved is seen on the "official film" ) but I think we would have a lot in common as well as loving Castara.
We were able to have the egg hunt between the wintry showers but are now back in the warm same as Bill.

Regards
Paul

It's my son's 21st birthday this weekend and we're having a BBQ for 30 people :? It's forecast snow / sleet for Sunday and a temperature of MINUS 2 !!!!!!!! Anyway, we have a patio heater and a fire pit and of course the BBQ - I think I will stay indoors and serve the drinks !! Men always like to do the cooking at these events - why should this one be any different.

Steph,

I did suggest to a friend that I might serve rum punch and play soca music and then just close my eyes. Don't think my imagination stretches that far though - but it will be nice trying :D
