CAR RENTAL

Post by Richard Reynolds »

I have recently been visiting Sint Maarten, where you can hire a car for about $100 per week. So car hire in Tobago seems about twice as much, someone told me I can get a better deal if I hire a car after I arrive, usually I book on line. Need a car for 4 weeks from 21/12/08, usually Xmas is a busy, but the same person told me Tobago is quiet over Xmas, am I being misinformed as I assumed Xmas to be the busy season. Best deal I have received is $900, anything better out there? Richard

Hi Richard

US$900 for 4 weeks is about as low as it gets - assuming you are hiring from a reputable source. Yes, car hire is expensive on Tobago. No, it is not materially cheaper hiring when you get there - at least not unless you want the dog of the fleet that is older than yourself.

December/New Year is a VERY busy time in Tobago (although it's anybody's guess what will happen this year with the economic situation generally). Frankly, your source is possibly a little suspect.
