Hoping & planning to be back in Castara in Jan / Feb 2010. Gotta do some serious saving. Maybe Virgin flight prices will come down (ever the optimist). If not, will seriously consider Monarch - will just have to grit my teeth for the long flight out. Loose plans at the moment. Have to wait & see. Be nice to see you again though.

Isn't this the second time in recent months you've hurt your ankle? Your excuses about doing some healthy and virtuous gardening are starting to wear a little thin. You are, are you not, a little partial to a drop of the old grape juice for medicinal purposes? Maybe you should abstain from it before mounting tables, chairs, stools, ironing boards whatever when pruning. Or give up pruning. I'm rather in favour of the untamed, wild, jungle look myself. And that's just my hair. Actually I'm getting that pruned this week.

Meeting you and the rest of the gang is on my list of Things I Should Do Whilst There's Still Time, so maybe I should make a trip to Bude, the IOW, Germany...oh yes, and Tobago.

At the moment I'm arranging with a plumber/builder to come and dig up my kitchen floorboards. We had the Electric Man in who whilst his head was under said floorboards discovered that we have our very own underground lake. It's quite exciting really. We may put lights there and install a sound system so we can invite people in to see it for an obscene fee and then use the proceeds to pay for the plumber/builder/electric man. I'm also hoping to find a species of amoeba previously unknown to science and have it named after me- amoebidae townsendii.
Like me, the house seems to be on the point of collapse.

How dare you so impugn my character ! Grape juice had nothing to do with it - I'm just a total ass. And no, it was not a couple of months ago I last had a little bother, more like a year. We plan on being in Tobago 3/05/10 thru 3/12/10 at Sandy Point. We'll add several days before and/or after at Castara. The exact days won't be determined until I can book my tickets on AA using FF miles. The potential booking window opens up about 04/05/09 so it might not be until the end of April before we have it totally nailed down.

You were right about last night, after the Nth. libation old friend convinced me I would love to go to a festival in the summer. To my horror seem to have booked tickets or so the email tells me. Where do I put my zimmer ? Now have to find local hotel no longer do tents !

If I could figure out what a "zimmer" is I might be able to tell you where you could put it Tried Google and didn't come up with anything on "zimmer" other than possibly some sort of medical or dental implant in which case one would assume it's already been put in it's proper place

Well, imagine Google not knowing that! I've just checked and you're right Bill.
A 'zimmer' is a Zimmer Frame, which is a walking frame for the frail elderly and in this country is synonymous with getting old. Another reference you might hear about is getting a 'Stannah' installed, which is a stair -lift for the home, and again, synonymous with ageing.

Right, now I've cheered us all up, what about resuming my spoof bodice-ripper then? I know darn well it won't be good enough for a publisher, but that won't stop me and I would do it for fun if I can get it going again, and if I get enough encouragement. A bit of fiction will be good for my brain cell (s) anyway.

Maybe you should get one of those brain training thingies then we could compare results. It gives your 'brain age' each day, and plots your results on a graph. Depending on the time of day and my energy and concentration levels, my 'age' has varied from 75 (bad day, that) to 32!
I'm pleased to say my average is 45, so that's not bad. The best score is age 20 mind, which I'll never achieve, not with my eyesight-it's all too fast!

Hi Everyone,
I seem to have been hibernating for a while.Too much "stuff" going on for a while to concentrate on the forum but I have been watching you Illness and surgery amongst family and close friends has kept me at the hospital when I wasn't working as well as the times that I was but things are looking up now thank goodness.Also celebrated a new baby girl being born on New Years Eve (or Old Years Night) to the girl who sadly lost her baby son 16months ago.More baby news will bring a first grandchild to my sister's husband adding to our extended family in the autumn. This is particularly good news for us all because the mum to be had an emergency op to remove a damaged ovary in October and we thought she might face problems in the future. Nature has a way of fighting back and now we have all got over the surprise it is very exciting.
Glad to read about various peoples hols being enjoyed in spite of the rain Hope it didn't put too much of a damper on the carnival spirit

David,You rose to the challenges of the climate with admirable stoicisism .I hope you have purchased the appropriate spirits to help you through when you come home on Thurs cos the weather man says it's gonna get frostier again

I better not get too involved in the zimmer/stannah thing as I noted that Gisella is planning to celebtrate the big 50 next year and I would have to add another ten years to her total . I would probably struggle just to turn the brain training thingy on let alone use it
