Accomodations for a month?

Post by J. Tomasulo »

Hello all.

I can't believe I found this site. What a great place! Good stuff.

Anyway, I am asking anyone here with any help they can give me. I'm heading to Tobago to get my season off to an early start. I'm a Golf Professional from Canada that found out that Tobago has one of the best golf courses in the Caribbean, Tobago Plantations. I've already made arrangements with the Director of Golf down there, so the next step is to find a place to stay.

I am heading down there in early to mid March for a month and a bit and although I have a friend who is helping find a place to say for the time I will be down there, I thought I'd ask any of you for any advice or recommendations. Obviously the less expensive the better for me. I'm not looking for anything to specatular. Just a bed and some privacy every once and a while. I'm as easy going as it gets and I'm not to picky. The golf course is located on Hampden Road, Lowlands, West Indies if that helps.

I thank you for reading this and hopefully some good will come out of it.

Take care

Hello Mr. Tomasulo,
Just a modest hint to help you search; Steve won't allow me to shout about this from the rooftops, so consider this as a careful whisper. Having recognised the way "SPA" fits well to your expectations, referring to rates, location and atmosphere, I thought it was my "duty" to inform you.

good luck, enjoy your stay, wherever you choose to

Kind regards, Roel

Hi there

Opposite the golf course - are two reasonably priced apartment-hotels with pools, either the Hampden Inn, or cheaper still, Viola's Place (neither of which I have any personal experience of, other than driving past and seeing them). Viola's Place looks cheap and cheerful - in reasonably good shape - but is cheap as it sits next to the highway. But that won't bother you if you are playing golf all day.

Great. So far so good. I appreciate the replies.

While I'm here I might as well ask you some things that I should expect.

If you guys don't mind me throwing a few questions out, I'm a pretty curious guy.

I'm flying into Trinidad then taking a flight into Tobago. Is there anything I should look out for? and words of advice. How are taxi's down there?

Food- Now I've done my research and I understand that seafood and curry are some of the many popular dishes down there, but what should I expect coming from an Italian diet? Is there pasta, espresso etc... down there?

Any words of advice? Where to stay away from? I'm planning on touring the island eventually while I'm down there. How are the local people? Will I be am outcast? Some of the things I have to do while I'm down, etc...?

I know the golf course is located in the lowland. Is there anything around there besides the Hilton and the golf course. Is it in no mans land? lol

I could probably still ask a million questions, but I'll leave it at this. I have done my research, but any other help is just a bonus. I'm looking forward to visiting this little island of paradise and I appreciate the replies so far.
