Films and Print Film Processing

Post by Terry Gilbert »

Hi

Excellent informative site! We are going to Tobago for the very first time, for just a week at the beginning of July. We will be staying at Teak Villa at Mt. Irvine [http://www.golftobago.com] (thought I'd get that plug in, since I did the website  ) - and can anyone please confirm that it is cheaper to buy the film in Tobago and have it processed/printed back in the UK?
As a matter of interest, it was through doing this website that I "discovered" Tobago - and thought this looks like a wonderful place! So here we are, off to see it for ourselves!
Also we will be taking a digital camera with us and am considering buying an Apacer CD Photostore - which is 'portable' and can also be charged from the 12volt cigarette lighter socket in a car. This allows anyone - without the need of a computer - to simply plug the memory/smart cards from the camera and burn/copy the photos onto a blank CD. Obviously one can then delete the photos and take some more. Sounds like a great idea, but has anyone had any experience with such a device?

Hi Terry
As a digital camera man myself I can not comment on the price of film, but the Apacer sounds like a good plan. It may also pay you to walk with a copy of the cd that came with the camera and the usb lead so that you can have the option of allowing one of the various local photo / computer stores burn images to cd should the need arise.
Enjoy your stay

CD Burners and Digital Cameras.......printing

Post by Terry Gilbert »

Hi Brent,

Thanks for the idea/info. How many photo / computer stores are there on Tobago? Burning photos onto CD is certainly a good idea whether using a portable photo-burner (like the Apacer) or the services of a store - due to the amount of images one can store per CD and blank CDs are certainly cheap. I would imagine that one of these local stores wouldn't charge that much to burn disks?

Another option is to take a portable and very compact quality printer with me - like the HP 140/240. This would print out 6x4" quality glossy photos without the need of a computer. Also works off 12v car sockets as well as mains electric - but I don't want to spend my holiday printing!!
