Two cars or not two cars

Post by Nick McFerran »

Taking a party of 6 to Tobago for 2 weeks this summer. None could be described as exactly pettite. Should we hire 2 small cars, or one big one? Any advice welcome.

Hi Nick

Well that is very much a matter of personal preference and has little to do with Tobago - the answer would be the same for travel over here.

It largely depends upon how independent the different members of your party want to be. If they like to do different things, then two cars have obvious advantages. However, if you are always/generally going to be travelling together, then two cars could be a real inconvenience and certainly break up the "party" atmosphere.

Assuming the latter, I would personallyhire a Mitsubishi Space Wagon or Toyata Liteace if the money ran to it, or Sheppy's Nissan Serena if all else failed. I would suggest reading our Car Hire articles (menu: Tobago/Getting Around/Car Hire) as a first step, then checking out the http://www.yes-tourism.com site to get a better idea of the comparative costs involved.

Have a great holiday.
