Hi folks

There are showers around ... they are just not falling over Tobago.

Moisture levels are quite high so you should consider yourselves unlucky (or lucky?) that you have had no rain.

At least you don't need the heating on

I can only echo what has already been said by Steve,I'm in the Scarborough area and it's as dry as an old stick at the moment! I think Paul should do some kind of rain dance as this part of Tobago has had no rain for around 7 weeks!

On the plus side it's fabulously hot and sunny and makes a refreshing change from the current UK weather.

There were some showers around last night ... whether Tobago got any of them, I can't tell.

The moisture is increasing and the trades are lowering so that increases the distances that the moisture can travel from South America.

Enjoy the sun while you can.

Another blisteringly hot day yesterday in Scarborough - probably the hottest in the week i've been here! Still no rain either...boy could they do with some.

Today is fab also with blue sky and sunshine and getting hotter by the minute.

Stag time I think. :D

High pressure is building south in the Caribbean and the moisture is moving away.

So if Tobago didn't get any of the showers since the weekend it's looking like this dry period will continue for a while more.

Commiserations, David, on your return to the cold and dull UK.

Trinidad didn't get anything either. Hot, dry and dusty around here.
And the bush fire season seems to start early this year, not unexpected though.

Hi Paul,
Spot on!! It's Tuesday and we got some rain this morning. Probably didn't make that much difference, but an improvement.
Maybe the next dark clouds passing by will do something for a change. Vegetation all over the island looking very sad. I have seen banana plants that have collapsed and fallen over the road. I will have to admit the weather yesterday was perfect for a beach day.
Cheers, Carol

Thanks Carol

The trough hasn't arrived yet ... it has slowed down and may take another day or 2 to cause any effect.

The moisture has been increasing and most of the rain is close to the south and south east of Tobago.

Hi Paul

We are currently at one of the highest points in the south-west of the island, between Black Rock and Carnbee, with views all the way from Trinidad (on clear days) to Les Coteaux in the Arnos Vale hills. As Carol said, we had 10-minutes of light rain first thing this morning. It has been generally cloudy since and several times has threatened to rain. Hopefully it will soon. Six weeks of sheer unadulterated sunshine is far too much!!!!!

Would that be the charming Miriam M or has the place changed hands? I have high regard for Addison and Miriam but haven't seen them for some years and lost contact. I see the house is occupied, but didn't know whether it might have changed hands.

Excellent Sherlock! You have the correct couple and house but I do not know the status of it at the moment. It has not changed hands to my knowledge. I'll find out and reply later.

Hi Hugh

Thanks for that. I certainly will pass on your regards if we (hopefully) see either of them.

Yes, we better get lost before we get shouted at for taking the thread off topic.

Just to get us back on topic, however, I have to report that the weather seems to have stabilised. We have had no more rain and the cloud cover is increasingly broken and things looking a little more settled. The winds are strong, however. Mind you, up here (500ft) we get the full blast of the trade winds, even though they have crossed across much of the island. Certainly doesn't look hopeful that there might be any rain before tonight though.

Trinidad had some drops of rain last night (or early morning), and still some thick clouds late morning,
but it cleared up during the last few hours and now it is hot and sunny as usual.

Paul i hope there will be no rain on weekend in Tobago. I will go up and plan to do some work outdoors ...

No worries Hugh ... but a nice scandal would be better than working out who lives where ... I am not a fan of soap operas ... can you find out anything exciting? ... smiling

Anyway ... the weather ...

The moisture is still around but it looks like there is very little rain around as the showers to the south and east have petered out.

The inimitable trough is still on it's way and it is creating rain over land (i.e.; not over sea [for those of an intellectually challenged disposition]) such as the northern coast of Venezuela so it is a gamble as to whether Tobago is close enough to get these rains which are quite heavy.

Anyway ... I guess I will be struggling to contain my excitement if any rain happens in the next 48 hours ... now when did I last say that?

I hope you are all enjoying this heat and sunshine instead of complaining about it ... just remember that I should have been there and now I am going next year instead when it will probably hose it down for the whole 3 weeks ... such is life
