Annie,

I will have to jump to Steve's defence on this one. Steve was airing his opinion that he had never had a problem and that he was very surprised to hear that you had such a bad experience. You must admit that if a person logs onto a review forum for the first time, posts two good reports about establishments and then rubbishes another establishment it may look a but suspect. And to add to the suspicion you never logged back in to argue your corner, which as time passed made the comments look even more sceptical.

In my experience on this site, which come to think of it is just about a years worth now, Steve has never been anything but fair in his comments, that is one of the main reasons this site is non-commercialised, to prevent unfairness.

I too had a bad experience in a very reputable establishment (Coco Reef) and I posted my views. And even though they were treated with surprise by most they had to be posted. But you must back up your initial post by follow-up to the responses it receives. By not backing it up you are leaving yourself open to the scepticism that we have witnessed here.

I think most people will agree that when you log onto this forum once, you end up logging on at least once a day  so I am amazed that it has taken you a couple of months to check in again. Your resistance to the 'MyTobago Syndrome' is phenomenol and if you could bottle it I know my wife for one would buy some off you

As you said everyone is entitled to their opinions, but remember that includes Steve!!

Hi Joe,

I appreciate your comments and feedback and Steve and I emailed each other yesterday and went back and forth over some of the issues I had with the Blue Waters Inn. I asked Steve to follow up with the Blue Waters on some of the issues we had there and do appreciate that it might look dodgy for a first timer to come on-site and lambast a hotel. I did back up some of the comments I made with some background information such as when we "left for the evening" it was to go to dinner down the hill after checking with the front desk what time they took last orders and not "to the rum shop" as Steve phrased it... Also when we called the front desk it was "call to" and not phoned (as we say in Ireland) and I do think it would discourage guests from complaining if there was noone to complain to at the front desk and that not everyone that stayed at the Blue Waters Inn that night logs into My Tobago. We waited a good 40 mins before my boyfriend seeked someone out and still the music played on.

But anyway I used to log on almost every day before we went to Tobago last April and logged in again because we are going for July 4th weekend to Trinidad and might venture over again for a few days. It is indeed a really useful website and I loved reading everyones stories but thought the responses were a little harsh but agree that it could and was regarded suspiciously. I also mentioned to Steve that had it been at the beginning of our trip and not our last night it wouldn't have been so bad but I am definetly not at my best after a night of little sleep :)

Thanks again for the feedback and the smiley faces :)

Annie
