:D thanks very much everybody!
this was really helpfull because tickets are really cheap!
the only big problem will be finding a cheap way to reach London (Ryanair for example), avoid sleeping in London and getting, let's say, from Stanstead or Luton to Gatwick without spending toooo much.
Anyway thanks again!

Hi Gio

Given your location in Italy, you ought to try and get a reasonable British Airways quotation - this way you could check your luggage right through and simply change planes at Gatwick without changing airports or paying a fortune for trains (which do not work properly in UK anyway - the trains in Tobago run equally well) etc.

Ask BA for a "World Offer" ticket price - sometimes they virtually give away the UK or European part of the journey, when selling a long-haul ticket, so it might not work out mch more when you consider the other savings and hassle saved.

Good luck

hi Glyn!
thanks for the suggestions.
Sometimes I flyed to Tobago with BA but unfortunately planes from Italy land at Heathrow (when flying BA) or Stanford (when flying Ryanair) and one has to spend the night in London (very expensive!) and has to checkout the luggage and "drag it" to Gatwick (this after the Towers disaster). This is why I usually fly Lufthansa, as the hotel fare is exqual to the difference in price for the airfare.
Nevertheless I'll check again just in case.
Bye for now

extra legroom seats

Post by Alexandra Taylor Presslan »

We prebooked these seats and paid 120.00 but when we arrived at the airport they had given them to some one else which i was obviously not too pleased about as i am claustophobic and a nervous flyer and that was why i paid the extra, so they said they would upgrade us but when we got on the plane we were not upgraded. To add insult to injury the people in our seats were children and on our piece of paper it said no one under 16 wil be allowed in the emergency exit seats!!!!!!! Not too happy i can tell you.
All that aside the flight was a good one, entertainment was good, food was o.k and time seemed to go quickly. The seats in economy were particually small re narrow it seemed, and you could not recline your chair while the person behind had their tray out.
On the way back we did get our seats, snd it was worth the extra imho.
excel one and premium looked good.

Hi Alexander

Will you get a refund on the payment, or half of it? It may be useful to readers to learn what the refund policy is for these emergency exit seat booking fees/other, with GC or your agent?

Regards
Glyn
PS - if I were you I would raise merry hell - check with the CAA regarding children occupying emergency exit seats, my wife's cabin crew manual says it is against the rules (and therefore a danger to the safety of the flight!)

As an ex flight attendant I am really surprised to hear that Excel sells seats at the emergency exits at all. International airline safety regulations state clearly that these seats should only be given to people who are able to open the doors in an emergency and assist the cabin crew, they are called PSP's ( pre selected passengers). How can you do this if you sell those seats? This is the reason why children, elderly and handicapped passengers are not allowed to occupy these seats. The cabin crew has the authority to ask any passenger who might not be able to help in an emergency to give up this seat.
By the way, often these seats are fixed and not reclining.

On the letter i recieved when i paid my extra for the seats it clearly stated that if i was found to be unsuitable for theseseats ie unable to demonstrate reasonable strength, be over 16, not handicapped etc etc i would get a refund and not be allowed in the seat. i am young ish 30 and not any of the above but my seat had been given away to someone who was unsuitable imagine my surprise after the above letter i was slightly peed off!!!!! I wrote a letter of while on board and upon my return had a refund of 60.00, which was good but seeming as it was their mistake and half of premium economy was empty, i think they should of upgraded us as they said they would, and i would have paid extra for my drinks as the ground staff said but unfortunatly that didnt happen, but i still had a wonderfull holiday, just not the beat start!!! :D
