Hi David

I am fascinated by your description of the 'gibbeous moon' ... so I thought I had found a new word to play with.

The closest I could come to was the following ...
gibber

gibber [jíbbər]
intransitive verb (3rd person present singular gibbers, present participle gibbering, past gibbered, past participle gibbered)
be incoherent: to make sounds or speak words unintelligibly
Stop gibbering and tell me what’s gone wrong.

noun (plural gibbers)
gibbering speech: rapid incoherent or unintelligible speech
... nevertheless ... I like the new word and I am pleased that the moon had such a profound effect on you.

Anyway ... the weather looks sublime for the foreseeable future ... the trades have set in very well and there is no sign of any persistent rain or cloud cover for days.

The waves could get a little heavier as the trades are picking up a little ... but who cares, the weather looks great.

Here's a tip David while you are in Charlottesville ... find Lover's Bay ... try out Karl who does the Kayaks ... he will take you there ... it is the most exquisite little piece of coast I have found in Tobago, particularly if you like snorkelling.

Enjoy the weather ... and that gibbeous moon ... 8)

Paul

Far be it from me to correct such a font of all knowledge, but it is Clark (can't remember whether it has an 'e' or not) Weissinger, not Karl.

Sorry I haven't been able to give any updates, but just keeping on top of the reviews is keeping me on my toes. Worse still, the Internet access up here in Castara is disgusting and I simply didn't bring enough carrier pigeons with me to get my emails to the forum.

David. How dare you leave Castara without permission? I owe you a beer and I'm a man who likes to honour my debts. When are you back?

Yes you are right Steve ... it must be Clark ...

It is just one single year since I had the pleasure of his company and I have already forgotten his name.

The shame of it.

But I cannot forget the experience ... that will remain with me forever and, I guess ... knowing Clark, if he remembers me ... he will forgive me for that indiscretion.

I hope you are enjoying your stay, Steve, don't work too hard and enjoy ... I trust you and David will 'balance the books' before long.

Methinks !!

Hi Paul,

Like you I've been intrigued by the "gibbeous moon".

Despite extensive research I haven't been able to trace "gibbeous" - but the Oxford English Dictionary comes up with the following:-

gibbous
/gibbss/

• adjective (of the moon) having the illuminated part greater than a semicircle and less than a circle.

— ORIGIN Latin gibbosus, from gibbus ‘hump’

So maybe "gibbeous" is the poetic version of this? Or maybe David can enlighten us sometime!

Hi Jane

I just like the sound of a 'Gibbeous Moon'.

It just feels right ... just like 'Liquid Sunshine'.

It must mean something ... it mean't something to David and I sense that I would understand if he could remember the moment he saw that moon that night and thought 'gibbeous'.

Fascinating stuff.

Regards ... from a lover of wordisms.

Good morning all.

A gibbous moon is between a full moon and a half moon, or between a half moon and a full moon. :D

Looks nice though

Hi David

There is alot of angry weather to the south east and a few wisps of cloudiness and rain passing close to Tobago.

Otherwise it looks OK. The bad stuff has other places to go.

Ladies and Gemtlemen

You got the light stuff ... trust me !!

There was some very disturbed weather to the south and east and it just shaved Tobago ... could have been alot worse.

The weather is good right now ... enjoy the rest of the week.

Wallace's favourite food ... with Cream Crackers ... the Gibbous Moon is apparently made of cheese according to the philosphies of Wallace.

Gromit says

Cracking !!

Thanks David

It is getting lively over Venezuela and some wisps of moisture moved off the mainland overnight and that will explain why you had a little rain.

The trades are still in control but there is an increasing chance of showers coming from the opposite direction ... mostly overnight.

Weather looking good.
