Tobago Dive Experience
Me and my wife have never dived before. I contacted Tobago Dive Experience. Have you tried this operator? Any opinions?

Hi Michcios
See our Diving articles (menu: Out & About > Activities/Things To Do > Diving > Services (www.mytobago.info/diving09.php ) for a full list of all Tobago dive services and both our opinion and the RSR rating of visitors to Tobago. Tobago Dive Experience (TDE) have a very chequered history and would not be my personal choice. Aquamarine Dive at the Blue Waters Inn, or Extra Divers at Speyside Inn, would both be better choices.

Re: Tobago Dive Experience
According to the list Extra Divers are not in Speyside... We are thinking of diving in the Speyside and visiting Little Tobago in the same day.

Yes they are!
Make sure that you are looking at the Region 4 (North End) list. Extra Divers also have a main office in Region 1 (Crown Point).
Just one point: If you have never dived before, you won't just be able to call in and go for a dive - you need to undertake a diving course over several days. Speyside is not the best place to do that.

Re: Tobago Dive Experience
Some diving agencies have single dive package which include short course and then single dive. This is what I am thinkng about.

Re: Tobago Dive Experience
Sounds very, very risky to me. My best advice would be to contact each of the dive agencies and see what they suggest.

Even lonely planet writes about this single dives. This is always with a "guide". I will contact Extra Divers.

Re: Tobago Dive Experience
Steve,
I believe what Michcios is referring to is the PADI 'Discover Scuba Diving' course, which is indeed a short half day introductory course and includes an easy shallow dive to get the first scuba experience. It is/was often referred to as a "resort" course. Any PADI dive shop will offer this course under all the normal PADI safety standards.
Hope that helps!
