items allowed to bring onto Tobago

Post by Deb & Tom »

Just reserved a trip in April. We will be staying at Naturalist Beach resort and plan to prepare breakfast and lunches there. We'd like to bring some things with us, but I can not find a site that lists what items are allowed in by customs for personal consumption. Can you provide information? Im thinking about things like frozen cold cuts, cheese, etc. Thank you.

Hi Deb and Tom

It is prohibited to import any meat without a license so forget that. Not sure about cheese, but the local deli supermarket called Moorshead has a good selection, local and foreign, plus there is a German lady who makes goat feta cheese to die for (Orange Hill Rd).

Local beef is particularly good here - most retaurants advertising US steaks are actually flogging good fresh local free-range beef. Frozen imported turkeys, hams etc are all readily available, as is fresh free-range chicken, and fish is all about!

Come with nothing is my advice.
