using my uk mobile phone in Tobago

Post by LindaH »

Please help: I am currently in Tobago on holiday and trying to text a number in the USA using my UK mobile phone.

What do I need to dial - i.e. which codes do I need to use to send the text from here, using my uk phone. Do I start with a zero or a +...... do I need 001 before the US number, or some other combination of digits? can anyone shed any light on this this morning. Feeling very frustrated as each time I try to text my phone says message sending failed and yet I have used this phone in other countries with no problems!!

I think you dial 1 then the number - here is a site that might help:

Not all phones work in Tobago, Steve has some information here:

Hi Linda

As far I know, if nothing is changed, from T&T one first have to dial 011 to get out of T&T, so:
you dial 011 (to get an international connection) + country code + area code (if there´s a 0 first, skip the 0) and than the phone number

Linda,

Try +1 (Area Code 3 digits) (Subscriber Number 7 digits).

You may not need the "+" in front, but it can't harm.

The pattern above only applies to US phone numbers plus some Caribbean Islands.

"O11" etc. only apply to calls from land lines to countries outside the USA call pattern.

Cheers,

Andy
