Safety boxes at Coco Reef

Hi there, we are visiting Tobago and Coco Reef for the first time at the beginning of April. Excitement is mounting already and I'm sure I'll have lots of questions, but the most pressing one for my husband at the moment is the size of the safety boxes in the reception area! Are they just big enough for documents or can you get gadgets (laptop and the usual stuff some men can't live without!) into them? Cheers, Alison

Even as a computer-addicted man, I agree with Jane's comment!

As for the safety deposit boxes, ours was only big enough for documents. They told us there were a few bigger ones but they were all full. I don't know if the bigger ones would be big enough for laptops.

I found the safety deposit box a little small and inconvenient in the reception area.

It is a small room and they will only allow one box to be accessed at once. This is understandable but I found waiting in line for this a bit of a bind.

Obviously my wife likes to take jewelry with her but doesnt want to waer it on the beach and if swimming cant leave in in her bag on the beach. With no safe in the room there is no choice but to que up night and morning.

I like also to take a decent camera with me but there was no facility to leave this in a safe as it wasnt large enough.

Most other hotels now have a reasonable sized safe in the room which is much more convenient.

Strange, we never had to queue.

We quite liked the protocol (which is too long to explain here!). It seemed to go out of its way to be very secure. But I agree that it's more suitable for things you only want every few days than things you want to put in and out every day.

Cost of fitting a safe to each room cant be higher than £100 each and would be so much more convenient.

I have to say though that I felt that the CoCo reef was exceptionally safe with good quality staff that medium value items left in the room would be ok.

Thanks very much for all those comments. I totally agree that it's a bit of a saddo to want to take your laptop, but his current work contract ends just as we're going away, so he can be forgiven for wanting to stay in touch! However, on the basis of your remarks I may be able to persuade him it's not such a great idea.

If it's just for email and web, there's an internet cafe next door to the Coco Reef. He'd have to use a webmail address instead of a POP address, but it should be possible to stay in touch.
