Anyone Tried Horse Riding in Tobago?

Hi All
I'm hoping to book a horse riding trip for my mum and I when I'm in Tobago in April and was wondering whether anyone out there had tried one of these trips?
I've read the reviews on this site of two companies that offer this (which were very helpful) but was hoping to get some more input from other people.
I'd like to do a trip that takes in some inland scenery as well as the beach and will be staying in Black Rock. Does anyone have any experiences/recommendations they'd like to share with me?
One last thing, does anyone know of something powerful enough to overcome an allergy to horses?! I went on a beautiful ride in Spain once but missed a lot of it due to my sneezing, runny nose and watering eyes! Wouldn't want that to happen this time.

Hi Sabina

My Wife and daughter (both horse mad) hacked out with the looking out stables a couple of years ago. They did the afternoon session and set off at about 2.00pm. They trekked through the old Courland plantation and hit turtle beach at 4.00pm. After a 5 minute canter along the beach, took all the tack off and spent an hour in the sea with the horses. I have some wonderful video of the sun setting with the girls and horses enjoying the surf.
A few minutes to dry off and then back up to the stables in the dusk amidst a light show from the fire flies.
All in all a trully memorable afternoon/evening.

They will pick you up from Black Rock if you don't have transport.

Highly recommended.

Forgot to mention that riding hats and leather chaps were supplied.

Try taking a course of antihistamine such as allereaze before and during your holiday. One tablet per day (or as directed on packaging) should help you with your runny nose. They will also help avoid any nasty allergies to insect bites that some people are affected by.

My daughter has developed an allergy to dust from the wood shavings that she uses for her horse's bedding. I'll get the details of the tablets that she takes as they seem to be working.

Sounds as though they went from Look Out Stables who from what I have been told have a wonderful horses and rides. I tried to book with Friendship Stables when my mum was over here, but when we turned up sadly the women that would take us out was in Trinidad so was a wasted booking.

Just one word of caution after teaching in the UK for many years, please just check their insurance policies to see if your covered if your travel insurance does not cover it. Some travel insurance class horse riding as a risk sport and require an additional premium, had a friend fall foul to this and it cost her thousands (in the States though) she broke a leg after a silly fall that was no ones faults.

Hi Sabina

My daughter has been using Clarityn for her allergy and it's working wonders. No problems with her eyes since she's been using it.

She's not allergic to her horse - but you might like to try it.
Available without prescription from pharmasists - always read the label etc.
