Yes Joe,Carib is for the girls!!!!!or perhaps as a thirst quencher at lunchtime, but Stag definitely sorts the men from the rest. Not long to go before I shall be checking that the quality has been maintained over the last year!!(32 days).David

As a non beer drinking shandy girl in the UK, I can confirm that I became a Carib convert on the island, whilst the men in our group chose Stag from day one, thus highlighting the sexual divide between these 2 beers. From a souvenir point of view, the best Stag merchandise we could muster was a STAG bottle opener from the gift shop at Crown Point hotel - as well as a photo of my man in front of a Stag lorry - A Man's Beer and all that. But for the ladies, the best Carib on the island was tasted at Lyda's bar in Charlotteville, ridiculously ice cold and delicious. The worst was on tap at Grand Courlan :x . Happy drinking

Simone

Your post has persuaded me to confess to a very dark secret...

Readers may recall that I started this debate, somewhat contentiously, by supporting the manufacturer’s claim that Stag was a “Man’s Beer”. Well, during my recent visit, I learned that when Stag was first launched, some years ago, it was actually promoted as a “Woman’s Beer”. It never took off. The product was withdrawn for a period, and then re-launched as a “Man’s Beer”.

The knowledge of this has caused me very severe trauma. I sought immediate medical advice on my return to the UK last week, but my doctor advises me that it will be at least 2026 before I can get an appointment with a National Health Councillor. I have decided to bite the bullet and go private and so am hopeful that I will return to normality (???) before long.

On a more serious note, I love the current marketing campaign. “Do you want a Stag or a beer?”.

I also totally endorse your views about Stag on tap. Actually, it’s not just Stag – it equally applies to Carib – and it’s not just Le Grand Courlan. I've experienced the same thing at every hotel that serves Stag/Carib on tap. At first I thought it was a case of All-Inclusive hotels watering the beer down (perish the thought!!!), but I’ve been taking close note and can now confidently say that the problem applies everywhere. The bottled stuff is always preferable to the draught, in complete reversal of the situation here.

Thanks Simone you have brought back some great memories, sitting on the steps at Lyda's drinking cold Caribs after walking back from a super day at Pirates Bay is fantastic.

Having spent two weeks AI at the Coco Reef I feel qualified on this subject now! I must confess to being a beer snob at home (real ale only). I had a few Caribs but they tasted light and gassy to me. Shoot me down in flames but I much preferred the Stag which had more of a flavour to it. A proper drink. Shame though, could have bought a load of Carib T-shirts back but couldn't see anything with Stag on it.

Better luck next time hopefully.
