Where can we play tennis?

Post by Anne Roberts »

We are off to Tobago in December and are staying in a villa on the Bon Accord Estate in Crown Point. Does anybody know where we can play tennis?

When we went last year we tried to find some courts, but the only place we could find was the Coco Reef Hotel and they were charging something like TT$60 for HALF an hour - a rip off! The Crown Point Beach Hotel, was very sniffy and said ONLY residents could play

Hi Anne

Welcome aboard!

I suspect that you're going to find the Crown Point's attitude fairly typical. I don't believe there are any public courts (hopefully somebody knows better and can prove me wrong).

Anyone for tennis?

Dear Anne

I can't recall seeing any public tennis courts, but I know that the Arnos Vale Hotel has a little-used court, right nest to the entrance gate.

I would imagine that it's for the use of guests ,but you might be able to book it for an hour or two as part of a visit to the grounds and hotel, which are well worth a visit anyway.

tennis courts

Post by Gabriele »

Ciao Anne. Sorry for late answer, but we just came back from the Italian Holidays. In tobago there are several public tennis courts available free of charge, subject to availability: during day time (morning when schools are open) they are empty, afternoon there are courses for children and usually late afternoon 5.30 pm to 7/7.30 adults. On average they are available after 7/7.30, pm, you may find a few other players, they are always very welcome to rotate on the courts, and play with other people. The best courts (two) are in Shaw Park (near Scarborough), they are litted very well, and Mt.Pleasant (litted but not excellent), and then courts in several villages: Black Rock. You may also play at other hotels, Mt.Ivine (fee around U$ 8-10). At Mt.Irvine there is an Old Folks group playing tennis Mon-Wed-Friday, 4-6 pm, they share the cost of the two courts and they rotate in doubles (who win best to 3 stay, but cannot stay nore than two consecutive time. Very social tennis, easy to join. When you came, get in touch with me, I play during the closing days of the restaurant Tue-Thu and Sunday. Ciao Gabriele :D
