Late Flight from POS to Tobago

Post by Jon Stone »

Hi, there are five of us planning our first trip to tobago at the end of January. Our flight is the Continental arriving at 8:40 pm I've heard of some who have made the last flight to tobago, but is it really possible for all of us to do this? Any charter flights we could take? We are already overnighting in Newark and had hoped to get to Tobago in two days instead of three. Thanks for your suggestions and help. Jon Stone

Hi Jon

Welcome aboard!

I'm not familiar with flights from the US to Trinidad, but my understanding is that you will be unable to catch the last airbridge flight at 21:15hrs unless your flight is VERY early. To be frank, I am stunned at the attitude of all the airlines involved in not scheduling things such that visitors can make connecting flights.

I'm also unfamiliar with any air charter firms. The only firm I know in that line is Hummingbird Helicopters (http://www.hummingbirdhelicopters.com) but with 5 passengers you've got a problem - unless you're prepared to pay the substantial cost of their biggest helicopter. However, if you contact ([email protected]) their very helpful MD, Capt.Tony Vieira, I'm sure he would be able to put you in touch with a suitable charter outfit.

Thanks for the information on hummingbird. I'll check it out, and compare to cost of extra hotel night in POS vs. extra cost charter. It does seem like there would be some later flights, but such is life in the islands.

Well I have emailed hummingbird, but so far no reply, it's been nearly a week. I was wondering if we should just hope that we get there early and get through customs to the last flight, Or should we just plan on the next day. Either way, should we reserve a flight to tobago or just simply buy them there? Thanks for the suggestions. Jon

Hi Jon

You would certainly be safer to assume it will be the next day and plan and book an overnight in Trinidad. Yes, it would be safer to book your tickets in advance.

Just return from Tobago had great time There are now 2 operaters from POS to Crown Point BWIA ( apprx 3 a day using a charter form Scandianvia plus crew)) and Tobago Express I think every hour.

Cost 200TT return so make sure you if book in advance that you are not charged more than this

Earlier Tobago Express flights

we arrive in POS at the airport at 1:30 p.m. and don't fly out to Tobago until 5 p.m. if we get through customs quickly, does Tobago Express let you get on an earlier flight.

They'll be glad to put you on an earlier flight! They did for us with no problems.
