Piarco/machine guns

Post by T Heie »

Last post before we depart.
By the way, RELAX was the most advised activity in my unscientific General Comments poll ('What to do on Tobago' in 7 words or less), and I will comply.
Truly hate to sound alarming, but there are some pretty scandalous crimes happening on Trinidad these days. An American man (emigrated from Trinidad, back on the island for a vacation apparently) was just kidnapped from a bar, according to the Trinidad Express Web site.
Here's my question: Having seen international airports, and now some in the U.S., with submachine gun-toting security guards, can I expect to find the same sense of vigilance at the Port of Spain airport?

Finally, thanks for all the great information on this Web site, Steve and crew. You deserve a medal.

We certainly didn't notice anything unusual in the Piarco airport. No gun-carrying police or soldiers.

Came thro' Piarco on 13.4 and 27.4. If there are any machine guns we certainly didn't see them - just really nice friendly staff at security.
