Postman Jobs in Tobago

Post by Pat Stamp »

Having just returned from a wonderful holiday in Tobago, I am seriously considering a change of lifestyle. I have recently started work in the global communication delivery sector and wondered if such jobs were available in Tobago and if so, what the salary, working conditions and any pension plan (contributory or non-contributory) would be? I used to work in the financial sector which was emotionally and mentally draining and a change of industry was essential to maintain my emotional well-being. Now in my new position in a completely different sector I realise that such employment is not actually a 'doddle' as my preconceptions had been, but a different type of challenge and thoroughly rewarding in every sense. I would therefore enjoy the challenge of this new career in an equally new setting and Tobago seems the ideal choice for my further personal and professional development. Any comments would be gratefully appreciated. P.S. On a completely different note - does anyone know where I can get any motorcyle spares at a decent price?
Thanks. Pat.

Are you really a postman, Pat? And with a surname like Stamp!

I have to say that I think that few people in Tobago get mail delivered. Post is usually retained at a post office for collection, but I guess that you can have it delivered if you pay?

Anyone else know about this?

Plenty of people in Tobago get their post delivered directly to their houses... if you keep an eye out you will see red mail boxes outside of many houses. TTPost does also offer a PO box system, and will also hold mail at a local post office.

You can also see many post-people out and about, often on scooters, especially in the mornings... although interestingly most of them seem to be post-ladies here.

To work for TTPost I would guess that you need to be a citizen of T&T, or have a work permit or work permit exemption. To obtain a work permit you would need to show that no-one locally is able to do the job you are applying for. For conditions of employment you would need to contact TTPost.

USP and Fedex also operate here, if that's of any interest.
