Health Services fees

Hi All,

I was recently informed that the Tobago house of Assembly (the local government in tobago) plan to introduce charges for the use of the local Health services by foreign nationals. So please make sure that you have adequate insurance hence forth!

If this is true, also make sure that you have adequate resources to pay for any treatment at the time of administration.

This is especially relevant if you are going on an all inclusive holiday. Many people don't take travellers cheques, or more that a small amount of currency than they are likely to use for tips or souveniers, if going AI.

A relative has just returned from holiday (not Tobago) after breaking her arm and didn't have a credit card or cash to pay her hospital bills. It was much more traumatic for her, not knowing if she would get the treatment she needed as she couldn't afford it there and then. lots of panic getting credit card details to her in time etc.
