Keep my fingers crossed

Post by Lily Mel »

Today, 47 days before our first visit to Tobago.
We were good prepared and ready to go!
Sh*t, There is a big chance we are not going and have to cancel our holliday
Last month I had a second operation in Hospital and have now to wait for
a third one.
It can not wait after our holiday, of course I asked my Gynaecolog.
Monday I will know it for sure. If it yes or no, it depends on when there is room to help me. And after that result I have to wait again if the cancer is higher up for the continuation treatment.
Because of this uncertainty it's unreasonable to move over the booking in advance.
I shame a little cause I feel the need to tell it here.
I have to ventilate.
But it's sooooo f*ing difficult not to look now on "myTobago", which has become my daily "surfbehavior"
keep my fingers crossed and will stay positive.

Don't be ashamed Lily - it's good to ventilate.
"myTobago", has become part of my daily "surfbehavior" too.
Best wishes to you.

Oh Lily

I feel for you. But like Julia said, it's nothing to feel ashamed about. Talk about it. When my daddy was diagnosed last year, we did loads of talking. I'm sure you have lots of family and friends around supporting you and that's important - as well as us saddo's here on this site...(!)

We all have an addiction to myTobago! I rushed home this afternoon to see if there were any more posts - and found yours...

Listen, Tobago will still be there waiting for you when you get better. Focus on that. Just think what you're trip will be like when you get the 'all clear'????!!!!! Rrrrraaaaaaagggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Thoughts are with you

Yes, if you feel you have to ventilate, do so; this Forum has a lot of wonderful 'audience' to ventilate to. Lots of us are daily forum-visitors and know what you feel (that it's hard nót to check posts). Try not to let it hurt you, stay positive to your expectations.

Really wishing you a great Tobago visit while feeling good both mentally and physically, someday early or someday little later. GOOD LUCK to you Lily,

Roel

Fingers crossed for you Lily Mel.
I've just had an op about 7 weeks ago to remove cancerous cells. Waiting myself to get the all clear now. One thing that is keeping me going is the thought that i'm gonna be back in tobago soon. You will get there, even if it takes a couple more months. Anne is right, Tobago will still be there.

Do stay positive, it is very easy to slip into the "woe is me" mood.

Take care and best of luck, my thoughts are with you

Keeping my fingers crossed for you Lily Mel, I know how hard it is when your not sure about going on holiday, especially Tobago.

My son broke his arm 4 days before we where due to go to Tobago in May and we had to cancel the holiday, but I have kept my chin up by logging on to this www site daily for my Tobagian fix.

We are due to fly 2 weeks today, and am counting down, fingers crossed that we will get there, I don`t think i`ll be really happy till I have my feet on the ground at Crown Point.

I hope everything works out well for you and you get to go to paradise.

My thoughts are with you Lily. I've had my own cancer scare recently and can imagine just how you must be feeling at present. I really hope that you get good news on Monday - I'm sure everyone on the site sends you their best wishes and will be thinking of you.

Just remember - Tobago will always be there for you and is something to look forward to whenever you can get there (hopefully sooner rather than later). And, of course, all of us "myTobago" addicts are always here, getting our daily dose of paradise!

Stay positive

Dear Lily Mel,

I was exactly in your shoes earlier this year. First trip to Tobago arranged only to have to be cancelled due to my cancer diagnosis and then lengthy treatment. The good news though is I'm now cancer free and planning my trip again for next Easter. I totally know how awful it is when you are looking forward to visiting paradise, but stay strong, keep positive and you will get there, it just might take a bit longer than planned.

Wishing you well for good news on Monday.

Kayla.

Don't you worry, Lily Mel, you'll be just fine. :) Soon enough, you will be soaking up some sun on Tobago, so take the time to get well, knowing all the goodness of paradise found in Tobago is awaiting your arrival. Meanwhile, here's a hug and a kiss for you (XOXO) to accompany my prayers for your speedy recovery.

Best wishes, hugs and kisses and prayers also for other Tobagophiles who are on their way to recovery. :)

Dear Lily, all my fingers crossed for you. I whish you all the best and hope you will have good results on Monday. As the Tobago adicted sais the island will be there even if it takes you more time to come there. But with all this good wishes it can't be long.

Stay strong and don't let your illness pull you down. I was lucky because the tumor they found in my face was no cancer.

Good Luck for Monday and if you feel sad just look at this page and it will make you feel better and also will make you feel much closer to Tobago.

Thank you all for your support, kind, warm and wise words, this is a great help to me. :)
Tobago is still waiting for us and not walking away.
In the first place I was upset cause I had to cancel our holiday which is for sure now. Operation and research can not wait.
Our holiday gave me the feeling of a grip, the uncertainty around the continuation treatment not.
I let go the grip, cried a while, which gave me a feeling of relieve and surrender.
I can and have to deal with myself now.(not to forget my family and friends) Still haven't tell everybody yet, also do not feel the urgent need to do so. For me it's easier to tell it here, can somebody imagine this?
Or could someone feel passed over? I need some opinions.
Keep my head up and will go with the flow.
Thank you all.

Hi Lily,
I repeat that I wish you all the best for the treatment and also for your mental condition as a support for this treatment.
Furthermore I find it difficult to advise you who to inform and who not. In general most people appreciate the facts, not knowing ofcourse your relatives/friends I can imagine some doubts about who to inform when.

I find it difficult to advise you in such a personal individual matter but you since you specifically ask for, here's my humble opinion:
May I do a suggestion: why not write a letter in which you explain your situation, you can choose the right words for the right people. You could even copy these positive forum posts into that letter as an example (illustration, hint) of a method by which you might feel their support and appreciate that support.
You could promise the receivers of your letter to keep them updated whenever there should be reason to and whenever you like to.

PLEASE NOTE:
Don't misunderstand me: you could leave out names like Mytobago and all company names mentioned with it, this would defenitely not be for any promotional purpose, this would only just be meant for showing nice reactions, indicating in what way you feel (have felt) supported, so completely anonymous.

Hope this helps (in a way).

Kind regards, Roel
