Restaurant/bar reviews - Scarborough

Post by Julia D »

Everywhere we wanted to try to eat in Scarborough was closed (Blue Crab, Aroma Salt & Pepper and a few others), so ended up going to Chef's Bbq - as far as fast food goes, it was a perfectly adequate meal ($20TT for chicken, chips and salad)

Ciao Cafe - great escape from heat and bustle of Scarborough. The carrot cake and chocolate fudge cake are excellent, and the mango ice cream is to die for!

Bar Code - Milford Road, lively bar with a fairly mixed crowd (locals, tourists and expats). Has a few pool tables (but these get really busy so if you want to play, turn up early). Was still pretty packed when we left at 12.30am.

Blue Crab

Too bad that you couldn't get to the Blue Crab. We ate there and it was a wonderful experience. They found out that we were on our honeymoon and brought some home made icecream out and the owner gave my wife a big hug.

food in scarborough

For a really local food experience, try the restaurant at Gun Bridge, opposite the Fire HQ in Scarborough. It is downstairs from the fruit & veg parlour. I am a Trini living in the UK & have been going there for years on my travels back. A local lunch that is $25-30 TT at Store Bay is $15 there. They do a mean cow heel soup,Friday for those who like "dat kinda t'ing".Lots of different styles from Creole food to Chinese, curry etc.Well worth a visit. It is takeaway, but there are about 4 tables where you can eat in. No waiter service, you collect your food & go & eat at the tables at no extra cost. Good local food that the locals eat.Trinbagonian Style!
