can anyone advise me about work permits residency and legalities of buying a business in tobago the embassy web site isn't very informative so i will be ringing them but wondered if there's anything on the net i can look at to give me an idea before i ring

You need to contact the Ministry of National Security in Trinidad, who deal with immigration, work permits etc. Phone no. is (868) 623 2441 or 623 2466. You might also contact a local lawyer in Tobago that deals with work permit / business applications to help guide you through.

Sorry for the lack of response, but the honest truth is that this is far too complex a subject to be addressed on a tourism site and goes way beyond the remit of the site. Speaking personally, I never give advice on the subject simply becuase its not totally clear-cut and giving the wrong advice could have serious consequences. You must contact the authorities and then take advice from a T&T-based attorney.
