Hello,

Firstly - Steve, ignore nasty mails, they tend to be sent from nasty people whom have no respect for themselves let alone you, your members or Tobago!!

Secondly Help!! We met a gentleman called Ruben last time we were in Tobago and he has refused, under much pressue, to sell out and supply large 'hotel groups' with his work.

He is very talented and a wonerful man whom did something very special for us when we were there. I now want to get him or his children someting as a thank you. I want whatever I get to be greatly received but not an embarrasement, what can anyone advise?

This guy is so special to us and we want to thank him.

What a lovely post. I'm sure everyone will endorse my view that we must help Michelle to think of something appropriate. Sadly, I have so little imagination that even choosing the right pair of socks is a major headache - I just grab the first pair on the self, regardless of colour or size. So, come on folks; you ladies in particular are generally brilliant at ideas on this sort of thing.

Are you thinking of something that you can buy over here and send to Tobago, or something that can be bought in Tobago and delivered to him locally? If the latter, I will gladly arrange it with friends and contacts over there if you need any help.

I'll see if Jill can think of anything - she's much better than me at that sort of thing.

We are loking for something to take with us. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, preferably something that is not so easy to get in Tobago.

I am hoping someone will have more imagination that I have manged.

we had three little bottles of german white wine in our samsonites, which were our gifts to our Tobagian witnesses and Mr Jordan from the marriage office . They seemed to be very glad about this - because it was an unexpected and unexpierenced piece of our homecountry. So just have a look around yourself?

Hi Michelle,

Here's a few thoughts that are inexpensive but perhaps very valued there.

Art supplies, such as coloured pencils, watercolour sets, and large pads of paper. These could greatly appreciated by children in the villages, and hard to get there. I'm a big promoter of art-in-everyday-living, and love to encourage creative expression for everyone.

We recently took some simple photos of some children all dressed up for an eleven year old's birthday party, in L'Anse Fourmi. The young girls loved getting their picture taken, and posing for the camera. We got their address, and mailed them the prints as soon as we got home to Canada. (Of course, you may need to check with the individual's belief systems. Some people do not want their Soul sucked into a camera and captured on a piece of film. So check it out first)

I will defiatley take some pens, pencils and crayons for the kids and we have decided on a football (soccer) shirt for our friend. Only a few weeks now and I can not wait.
