Hello Lily
Welcome back!!
I would say that this is a completely safe place to talk and share your thoughts and feelings. The guys that use this site are all like minded people, we have one big thing in common (our love of Tobago of course!!) and we share that through this site. When we hear of others suffering, we send out one big group hug.
Friends and family will suprise you (in a nice and good way I mean). Like I said, when my dad was diagnosed, he kept it from ALL the family for a long time - he was embarrassed about it, upset, ashamed - I imagine all those feelings that only people who go through this will feel. When mum and dad finally told us, they were so relieved as it meant they no longer carried the 'secret' alone and a weight was lifted off their shoulders. We were then able to support them, talk with them and just be there.
I have a friend who also suffered about three years ago. It's also hard being on the receiving end of this sort of news, how do you react? There is no right or wrong way. My friend is fine now - all clear. My dad is on medication and his condition is controlled but will never go away.
I suppose what I am saying is that only you will know those nearest and dearest to you, and when and if and how you chose to tell them is deeply personal. We can all support you on here with words, but only you will know the right thing to do out in the real world and the human touch and the closeness you get from loved ones cannot be beaten. I am sure there are those closest to you that you have confided in already. Take your strength from those. And, if you don't want to tell everybody, then you simply don't have to. If people feel 'passed over', well, it's not a competition and if you have those feelings, then stick with your instinct.
Whatever you do, it will be the right thing - FOR YOU.
Please still come back for chats on here, we're all looking out for you!!
Take care Lily Mel - Lots of good, positive thoughts and wishes winging their way over to you right now!!!
Keep my fingers crossed

Hi Lily
Best wishes and please let us know how you're doing.
Julia
Oh yes, definately.Lily Mel wrote:For me it's easier to tell it here, can somebody imagine this?
You tell people when you're ready, it's much more difficult to tell people you're emotionally attached too, you have to deal with their emotions too. But I agree with Anne "Friends and family will suprise you (in a nice and good way I mean)."Or could someone feel passed over? I need some opinions.
Best wishes and please let us know how you're doing.

Hello All,
Thank you again soooo much for your deep personal advice and words.
Indeed I'm not ready jet to tell, and yes, I have to deal with their emotions too. (the exact issue that I couldn't find, where I was walking away from)
So I will think about it now how to express my self.
I' ll stay tuned on my Tobago.
Till later.

I'm back
Hi All,
So far, so good, I'm back. Everything is ok now.
It was a stressfull time while waiting for the result from the lab.
It took some time to write you cause my resistance was very low after
the operation.
Tomorrow is the day we should have been departed to Tobago.
Sh*t happens. Tobago is still waiting for us!
We will see when we go, first now we will take a little holiday.
Thank you all again for your support.
Till later.
Lily

I'm back
Hello Lily and welcome back! Have been thinking about you and wondering how you're getting on.
Glad to hear that things are now pointing in the right direction for you. Like you say sh*t does happen, and often in very large blobs (and very often actually - my sorry/pathetic story is that I broke my arm recently AND started a new job within days of one another. My husband is having to drive me to work and back (1 hour each way) and you just don't appreciate how much you neeeeed your arms...), but there is always a silver lining to every black cloud, YOU are having a very well deserved break - wherever it may be - you enjoy it and be looked after by those that love and care for you, and for me just ONE more week till the pot comes off and I can drive myself around again!!! hooorah!!!
Things can only get better and are looking up for you!!!!
Take care Lily

Hi Anne
Just read your posting about your arm. Sorry to hear that news but I expect that by the time you read this it will nearly be time to have it removed ( The plaster that is.... not your arm ! ) I hope that you didn't break it demonstrating the limbo to your friends on a drunken Saturday night !!!!!
Congratulations on your new job, hope you are enjoying it.
Best wishes
Sandra

Hello there Sandra
Me? Drunk? Never!!!
Just got back from the hospital. The pot was removed this morning. Five LONG weeks!! But on the mend now!!
New job is going very well thank you very much!! Just bad timing for it all...
We're thinking about next years holidays again. Actually, we're always thinking about the next holiday... Not sure where we will go this time. Would love Tobago again, but will have to see what the finances will stretch to this time round.
Am still viewing this site every day. Sad or what?
Hello to you too Lily Mel - not to forget you!! Sorry that this post went off on a bit of tangent!!!
