flight prices in august

Post by Tony E »

thanks for this fantastic resource of info on Tobago. All the info and posts good and bad have really wetted our appetite and we are really impatient
to start planning a trip. Unfortunately business commitments and gcse's will delay a visit until the school holidays next August. We like to arrange things independently and half the fun is the research! It would seem that Tobago suits us down to the ground.
However despite having what I thought was a decent budget for the holiday (5-6k) it looks like we will be scuppered by the flight prices. The cheapest I have found for that time runs to just short of 3k for the four of us! and I have tried everywhere. I had hoped to book excel and get away with about £400 each.
Are these prices normal at that time of year or am I searching in the wrong place? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Tony

Welcome aboard and thanks for the kind words!

Do you want the good new or the bad news? The good news is that your your estimates of around £400 is correct. Excels Economy class fares for this coming High Season (November-April) vary from £379 to £402 (surcharges for Christmas/New Year/Easter). The bad news? Well I don't believe they've published their Summer 2006 schedule yet. I've had a look on their website and got a shock, because it was showing £585 adult price for early August. So, I went back to my prices for this summer. You might find the following of interest (all prices are adult Economy return, per person, based on two week return):

02-23 June 05 - £391
30 June - £402
07 July - £425
14 July - £448
21 July - £586
28 July/11 Aug - £621
18 Aug - £494
25 Aug - £425
01 Sep/08 Sep - £402
15 Sep-06 Oct - £391

So, you really get stung for the peak August holiday dates I'm afraid and I guess it will be the same for every airline.

Hope this helps you plan.
