money advice

Post by Ann E »

:D It is now only 4 weeks before our first trip to Tobago staying at Inn on the Bay - all inclusive - and there is just one small question we are not sure about, is it better to take currency (sterling or dollars) or to stick with Travellers cheques, also how easy is it to use credit/debit cards to pay for such things as car hire or excursions.

Just one final thing, if there is anyone out there with any up to date info/advice on staying at the Inn on the Bay it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ann

About Money. It is best to take credit cards and just a small amount of cash sterling/dollars. Master/Visa cards are accepted everywhere. e.g car hire and excursions. At present, not much info. on Inn on the Bay but keep looking on our Forum in the Accommodation Section.

Inn on the Bay

Post by Allan + Maria »

Hi Ann

We were at the Inn on the Bay last month and found it a good value base to explore the island. The rooms were very nice and comfortable with only the odd glitch (the shower!). We have posted a review on the Accomodation page but if there are any specifics that you want to ask then we would be glad to help.

I can confirm what Jill said about the money. You will be fine with credit cards and cash. There is a guy from a company called 'the A Team' who will approach you once you arrive to give you details of all the tours available. They all looked good, though we tended to book independantly and probably saved a little money as a result.

I'm sure that you will enjoy yourselves - the overall impression of the place is that is very pleasant but a bit quiet. The beach is not great so I would recommend getting a car to see more of the island as there are plenty of gorgeous beaches nearby a lots more to see and do.

Have fun!

Money Advice

Hi Ann,
We returned from Tobago almost 2 weeks ago. We had a very enjoyable 2 week holiday there and all I took was my Visa card and cash (Direct Debit) card. Visa is widely accepted at supermarkets, restaurants and for car hire etc. Surprisingly petrol stations want cash. Cash can be readily obtained at cash machines - several in Crown Point area and in Scarborough but also one at both PennyWise supermarkets (one in Canaan and one in Carnbee). The latter is about 5 mins drive from The Inn on the Bay.
Have a great holiday,
Malc C

Hello Ann

You will find various useful currency information, including the location of all cashpoint machines under the Odds & Sods/Money Matters menu.
