Bicycle rental?

Post by Mariann G. »

Hi Everyone,

A friend of mine and I would like hire a couple of bicycles when we are in Tobago at the end of the Jan.

Does anyone know about prices and where we can hire them? Do you think that it is dangerous to go cycling in Tobago?

We will be staying in the Bon Accord area.

Thanks,

Mariann

Hello Mariann

Welcome aboard!

From the menu bar above, select Tobago/Getting Around/Bicycle Hire.

Hi Mariann

There´s a man nearby the Airport, follow the road to Store Bay, who´s renting bikes. I don´t know what the bikes cost in Jan, but it´s always cheaper per day to rent for a week instead for a few days.

I use to stay in Bon Accord, and I often rent a bike for a week or two. I wouldn´t say it´s dangerous to use a bike, but one have to be careful. The roads are quite narrow from the Airport via Bon Accoord / Canaan, there´s also some potholes and so on. And it´s mostly the same inside Tobago too.

If you are using a bike below Arnos Vale, you wouldn´t have much problems with hills, but from there the hills start getting sharp, some are VERY sharp. By bike you will, from Bon Accord, be able to reach the beaches all the way to Arnos Vale Beach without any problem. If you go north of Arnos Vale, be prepared for a hard ride.

Have a nice vacation

Steve,

I guess I was looking for an easy solution to be achieved without properly looking through the website, sorry

Ronald,

thanks a lot for your advise, it is really helpful. I am not a very good driver, especially not on the other side of the road (never tried it and probably would not know how to change the gears etc) so that is where the bicycle idea came in. Not to mention that it might burn off a few calories allowing me to drink more Caribs :D

Cheers,

M.
