Question about beach facilities
We will be visiting Tobago for the first time this February , staying at the Hilton . We would like to visit a few different beaches around the Island . Other than Pidgeon Point , are there any beaches that have lounge chairs / umbrellas for rent ... with restroom facilities .. and food/beverage service . Does anyone know if you can rent chairs / umbrellas for a fee at any of the Hotel beaches .. like Mount Irvine , Coconut Bay , Store Bay etc .. and dine at their restaurant for lunch ?

Hello Joe
Welcome aboard!
Store Bay has chairs/loungers/beach umbrellas for hire and there are toilet and dining facilities within the facility.
As a general rule, I believe all the hotels strictly reserve their beach facilities (recliners, etc) for resident guests. However, all are open for lunch to non-residents. So, dining then using the beach is not a problem.
The chairs and loungers on Mount Irvine Beach (hotel side) are strictly controlled and a hotel towel is the "pass key" required for access to the loungers. However, you might be able to pay the attendant for use of facilities. The beach restaurant is open to the public.
The Coco Reef strictly control access to their beach (Coconut Bay). You may have to reserve a table at their beach bar to gain admission, although I believe you can also pay (but I bet its not cheap).
Hope this helps.

Dear Joe,
The most beautiful beach on the whole island is Englishman's Bay. There's beach chairs available, as well as a Roti Shack that does very nicely ( and cheaply) for lunch.
Another gorgeous beach is Castara. The Cascreole restaurant is right on the beach. On the north end is Cafe Delite, which is run by the Naturalist Beach. There's beach loungers there & a clean restroom right behind the cafe. You could easily spend the whole day there. Plus, you'd get to see what a real fishing village is like. You can get directions to the waterfalls, which is a 10 minute walk. The falls plunges down into a pool & is a lovely spot. Better yet, forget staying at the Hilton -- it's not the real Tobago! The whole Crown Point area is terribly overdeveloped, in my opinion. Stay in Castara (check out the variety of accommodations on this website). It's a lot cheaper than the Hilton and the surroundings are drop-dead gorgeous. The rainforest comes right down to the village. Email me if you have any questions.

Mt Irvine Beach facility hires loungers (TT$20) and umbrellas and the cafe/bar serves reasonable food.
Bacolet Beach hires loungers (TT$50) - palm trees provide free umbrellas - good bar/cafe
Canoe Bay (next door to Hilton) charges entrance fee (TT$15) and provides loungers (cost?) and you can find shade under the gazebos. Friendly bar/cafe
Arnos Vale Hotel has good bar/restaurant - there are loungers but these might only be for residents. Arnos Vale also has best snorkelling (better than a trip to Buccoo Reef!)
