End of November 2005 the river met the sea the opposite side near Vera's, as you can see on this photo:

Some days later an excavator came and digged a channel straight to the sea. This was good only for some days, then the river decided to change his direction towards Cascreole.

Thanks Steve,the river now runs about 2metres in Front of the Treetops restaurant,theres a six foot sand "cliff" there,and turns to the sea about ten metres or maybe more to the right of the edge of your photo.If you look carefully you can see the remains of a previous cliff in front of the restaurant.
Anyhow,the weather yesterday was good up until about 5pm then we had a couple of hours of light to medium showers,the usual overnight downpours and right now it is again clearing from the northeast.
Paul is this a pattern setting in?

Hi Dave

Yes ... the pattern should be for the rain to fall more at night and clemency during the day ... it is indeed much more preferable than having it the other way round.

The trades are looking strong for the next few days before they dip at the weekend and then pick up again next week ... so good for surfing at Mt Irvine ... not so good for snorkelling for the foreseeable.

I noticed a pulse of scattered showers moving off the South American mainland today just scraping Tobago ... these will still happen even though the trades are coming from the opposite direction.

David are you aware that Castara Bay faces west? It may be on the north coast but it faces west so are you sure the rain clears from the north-east?

Looking at the lovely photos from Steve and Roland ... in Steve's photo I thought I caught a glimpse of my underpants hanging in the trees just to the left of the Cascreole ... drying in the sun ... I strained and strained to see but I just cannot be sure ... can you blow those photos up Steve just so that I can be sure ???

The thought of blowing up that photograph and being faced with the sight of your underpants is more than my delicate stomach would take at this time of the morning, so I will have to save that job for a time when I'm feeling a little more robust.

Paul,as I face the sea at Ancle's the weather clears from over my right shoulder,northeast ?
It started to rain at 5pm yesterday and it is still raining!!!No it is tipping it down!

The Sat Loops show a very heavy area of rain to the south east of Tobago with Tobago under cloud so the worst is over the Atlantic Sea ... that's to your left !

As I mentioned yesterday ... this is another pulse of wet weather moving north east off the Mainland (Venezuela) ... it could last the rest of the day and it could get heavy if it tracks a few miles more to the north.

Before you start on the next crate of Stags, would you be so kind as to check that tree near the Cascreole for those underpants ... I have a sense that they must be getting a bit soggy by now

Paul,they have gone.The amount of rain we have had over the last 48 hours destroyed them.......at last they are real shreddies!!!!!!!.
River up date,the river now enters the sea at the far southern end of the beach at the rocks below Castara retreats.If I can I'll get a photo of it.It continued to rain allday yesterday and didn't it come down?In the extremely heavy down pours the wind whipped up to about 40mph!!!!!!A brief respite at about 7pm then it started again all through the night.It is a grey morning with steady rain.The sea yesterday and today is very rough so I am staying out.
Paul,you must do something about this weather!Cascreole has run out of Carib and is low on Stag similarly the Boathouse.Will check on Merlines and Coddries later.

I guess someone probably realised who's pants they were and nicked them ... probably the next we will hear is they will be in lot no.7 at a future Sotherby's Auction judging by the attention they have been getting

Anyway, the weather I agree has been abhorrent ... I did warn that things could change last Saturday and when we get these little surges of moisture moving off the Mainland then cloud and rain is what you get.

Watching the Sat loops, it seems that you will have got through a few more crates of Stag today or, if that has run out, Carib ... I doubt if Steve will be impressed.

The rain has become intense today and this is likely to carry on for at least tonight ... there is little way of forecasting when this will stop ... the trades are in place but Low pressure over the Mainland is pushing the moisture north and east.

Look around the rest of the Caribbean and it is blissful ... unlucky Tobago for this week.

Don't know about your undergarments but the weather is certainly pants at moment. It rained all day yesterday and hasn't stopped yet today. Even the locals are complaining now.

Yesterday was good today is magnificent.Clear skies with just the odd whisp of high cloud,beautiful azure and calm sea,it is grand!
Carib supplies are back to normal,I've just seen Almandez delivering!!

There is still some rain around ... luckily Tobago is avoiding it and there are some bands moving east over Grenada.

It still looks good for the weekend.

Hi Paul,a very wet night and it is still fairly overcast but it looks as if it is goingto brighten up.Fingers crossed!Sea is a lot calmer.
